The magnificent Bawrut returns to Ransom Note Records with an incredible new collection of interpretations of his music from the past couple of years, Remix Pack EP. Featuring a cast of the finest producers the underground currently has to offer, this four track whirlwind of club pounders exhibits everything that is great about electronic music in 2024.

First up, the mighty Marc Romboy takes Que Quiere Usted by the scruff of the neck and straightens it out into four to the floor, dance floor stomper. Originally a hand clap laden, frenetically jolly, five minute romp, Marc has taken the original concept and upped the techers chug factor by 200%!

Fernanda Arrau attacks Sonidero Usera head on, accentuating the tropical rainforest sounds of the source material, with added ambient echoes. Throwing in few classic house organ stabs and 909 kick drums, Fernanda has transmogrified it into an unswerving, deep down and dirty club workout of epic proportions.

R$N Records stalwart Hologram Teen takes Sonidero Usera in an even more unorthodox direction, introducing some of her trademark 80s computer game synth work. Underpinned by a sleazy, low slung bass line, the staccato Chiptune stabs almost seem incongruous, but Morgane’s artistry brings it all together perfectly.

Lastly, Nandele remixes Calima, from Bawrut’s 2022 record, In the Middle Extended. Adding in some manic percussion work and synth arpeggios Kraftwerk would be proud of, Nandele has turned it into a simultaneously anxiety inducing, yet meditative slice of terrifying machine funk.

Monologues boss Ben Gomori's edits of African classics for Sterns Edits and Africa Seven have won fans far and wide, with DJs from Optimo to Hunee, Folamour, Horse Meat Disco and TSHA getting behind them. He continues this acclaimed body of work with this new release, carving up two gems and adding a little juice to them in the process. First up, a joyous slice of 1980s Camerooon from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Then the deep dubby skank of Nigeria's Akaba Man & The African Pride's 'Popular Side' goes on a Metro Area-flavoured excursion with distorted Melodica blasts rubbing up against a sweet-but-trippy synth solo and haunting vox synths.

Martin Horntveth, otherwise known as Norwegian electronica producer Gouldian Finch - returns with an exceptional remix package featuring some of the most exciting and talented Norwegian, electronic music talent. Taking on the remix duties for his album track “Natas Kaupas” is none other than nu-disco royalty Lindstrøm and rising electronic talent Pow Pow.


Written in inspiration and named after one of Martin’s favourite skateboarders, Gouldian Finch explains that Natas Kaupas is “mainly based on a bass riff that can be perceived in two different tempos and about 50/50 of the band members play the tempo that sounds right in their head.“


The original track is a testament to the creativity and unique approach Martin takes to making music, passionately breaking down sonic boundaries of what “should” be done. Lindstrøm of course, then gives the track an exceptional Nu-Disco makeover in true Norwegian style. He explains he “wanted to try to strip it down to the bone and then rebuild it with a few but selected musical components. I ended up using a lot of the bassparts, the lovely strings plus of course Martin's drums. I am very satisfied with the resultant think it has become an interesting contrast to the original without losing the intense nerve, essence and soul of the original recording” - Lindstrom


With the Pow Pow remix, you can hear the lower tempo electronica building throughout the track. The strings are still prevalent, but theres a more laid back feel to the remix. Pow Pow explains “Our remix is a musical homage to the Oslo disco and the era when Oslo was the world’s epicentre of electronic dance music.The remix is built around the “disco strings” from the original and a RolandJuno106. To be invited into Martin’s musical universe, fantastic and bonkers as it is, has been so cool!” - Pow Pow


About Gouldian Finch


Martin Horntveth's illustrious career includes co-founding the globally celebrated band Jaga Jazzist and contributing to the success of The National Bank. He has showcased his production prowess across a diverse range of artists, including DumdumBoys, deLillos, Malin Pettersen, Jim Stärk, and Wizrd, among others. Beyond his musical endeavors, he has composed and produced music for television series like "Himmelblå", "Estonia", "Mammon" and "Twin", and has made significant contributions to the film industry, including "For vi er gutta" and the Oscar-nominated documentary "Do Not Split". Gouldian Finch marks another remarkable chapter in his illustrious career.


Martin says, "I've been contemplating creating this album since the early 2000s, but the process has always been interrupted by some better-paying gig or project. Most importantly, I've spent a lot of time trying to "land" on a sound that would encompass everything. It was only when I decided to put everything I love into the same pot that it clicked, and it made sense to release the music.

Mangabey recaptures the daring youth, bold experimentation and open-mindedness of the '90s with the first release on his new label José Records.

Passionate about electronic music and synthesisers, French artist Mangabey has made a name for himself locally and internationally thanks to a unique approach that blends electronica with world and jazz influences. Driven by the distinct spirit of a club and inspired by the underground electronic music of the '90s, he launches this label to share his musical explorations, which are dreamy and nostalgic but also highly danceable.

The lead single, 'Rave 2 Tam, ' tells the story of a woman who carries a feminist message. Her seductive vocal blends with heavy kicks and graceful bass as lush synths and jacked-up drums pump the party. Some old-school video-game-style melodies with acid complete this perfect fusion of the past and present. The fresh 'Traveling Brain' draws on clubs, trance, and techno and takes listeners on the ultimate mental journey, mixing different eras of underground sound into an immersive and irresistible danceable experience.

The innovative 'Diablo' is inspired by strobe lights clubs and bathed in ravey sounds. It evokes a dark universe, flirting with minimalism and trance, and is characterised by a moody bassline that never lets up and hints at the devil's work. Last but not least comes the superb 'P8 Maelstrom' made on a Prophet 8 synthesiser. It mixes epic bass, energetic breakbeats and more emotional violins and choirs to create an all-new and artful form of dance floor fun.

These four fantastic tracks get the new José Records off to a flying start. The entire EP drops on March 1st, with the preceding single, 'Rave 2 Tam,' available on February 2nd.
