Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.  

The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev’s sound. ‘Pulse V’ is charged with the kind of alien synth lines which could only come from his studio, but also draw a line to the hi-tech soul of foundational Detroit techno. ‘Pulse VI’ has a starker, bleep-led sound pitched towards tougher dancefloors. 

’Pulse VII’ strips things back in comparison, leaning in on a blanket of bass and keeping the drums sparse and to the point - a study in soundsystem pressure.  Widening the spectrum of the record, ‘Pulse VIII’ sees Pev make a rare push up into 160+ territory - something normally reserved for his DJ sets. Swerving obvious break edits, his take on jungle is lean and crisp, delivering a fresh slant on the sound while maintaining the sharp focus of his current output.

Continuing the vein of transforming their creative process, label bosses Kassian release their 4th EP on their imprint Faux Poly. ‘Intimate Empty Club Room’ delivers rich layered soundscapes full of experimental harmonics and an unwillingness to be tied down to any specific club genre.

The EP explores different senses of space, tone and reverberation, which are characterised in the name of each track; Shimmer, Hollow & Fade. The names themselves reflect the aesthetic of the rooms that the tracks were designed for.

@bluetooof's 'Newt Licker' is a "straight up" club banger that fuses acid, UK techno and bass, using drum samples inspired from his Moroccan heritage and vocal chops.

The song is part of a five-track EP of the same name that combines introspection with the @infa-red-48154163 boss' signature wigged out, bass-heavy soundscape.

Edinburgh party series & label DRIFT celebrates 5 years in operation with a very special 12 track compilation.

Initially formed out of a desire to step back from the intensity of peak-time club spaces, the Edinburgh-based music project DRIFT has enjoyed 5 wonderfully relaxed years, during which they've curated some truly memorable listening bar events across the UK. In order to celebrate the special milestone, they've asked 12 producers and artists previously involved with DRIFT in one way or another to contribute something in their own style for a very special compilation album entitled "5 Years of DRIFT". 

Our featured premiere comes from the alter-ego of Shetland-born, Malmo-based producer Bolam, Timo Torben. An artist focusing on captivating, textured sounds as he explores experimental breaks, dreamy soundscapes and organic, downtempo percussion. 

'Where Do We Go From Here' beautifully evolves from revereating ambient textures and spacey synths into wonderfully hypnotic downtempo breakbeat. Showcasing the very best of a range of genres in a single track and highlighting the producer's ability to create psychedelic electronic music of the highest calibre.

Releasing fully on the 15th March, the release showcases a range of genres from spoken word and ambient, through jazz and neo-soul to experimental club and dreamy, distant jungle.
