The latest signing from the region is fresh Ecuadorian talent ORDONEZ, resident of the world famous Lost Beach Club. THE SPELL EP is definitely one of the biggest releases of 2015 so far, which says a lot as it has been an amazing year so far!

Smooth grooving percussion pushes this track along while ORDONEZ weaves in the melody from a gritty Rhodes organ and adds to the magic with spiracles of electric piano. Mother is a label that serves up essential and high impact house music that is aimed squarely at the dance floor. House and Tech are always the order of the day and here that is the case once more as they offer up a five track Various Artists mini compilation. Mother Knows Best 4 shows exactly what they are all about. Artists old and new make the cut and the result is another fresh release from this Berlin label.

Up first are Robosonic & Klangkuenstler with ‘Nuts’, a bulky Tech House tune laced with playful vocal cuts of the Beatnuts and lots of party starting atmospheres. It’s soulful and run through with lots of colourful synths, smart filtering and a heavy drop that cannot fail to get you on your toes. 

Next up are birdhouse, a pair of newcomers from Sofia in Bulgaria who really impress with ‘OMG’. Its five minutes of drum lead house beats with robot vocals, heavy bass down low and big slapping hits that bring some real funk to the groove. When the nasty female vocals, laced with attitude, join the fun, it really sets the tune alight. 

And next up is a new project from Mexican duo Balcazar & Sordo who put out fine tunes on Get Physical. As Sordo & Rodriguez they keep us balanced on a knife edge with ‘Camino Largo’, a percussive, rough edged and jostling tech tune that keeps you licked in a groove with slick drums and thin pads full of real emotion. 

Thabo Getsome then comes correct with ‘Where The party At’. He hails from Berlin and releases on Suara and Lapsus Music. Over the course of seven minutes his tune stays deep and groovy, with grinding bass, crips hits and a late night sense of mischief. It’s a fine tune to build some tension. 

Last of all Vancouver talent Andromo from Rainforest Music then gets all freaky and tripped out with his wonky Andromo which is loose and off centre with bend synths and whirring machines all making you move your rump as your mind gets busy. 

This package packs a real punch and is sure to become essential material for DJs and dancers alike.

As part of the MOTHER RECORDINGS family, Berlin-based SUPERLOVER has supplied several outstanding works, such as ‘Steam’, ‘Stronger’ (a remix of the Boris Dlugosch Original), ‘Love Me’ and his summer 2015 anthem ‘Love Machine’. 2017 has started with a bang as ‘Heart Drive’ hit Beatport House Chart at #2. Here, once again, he’s supplying absolute fire with a 3-track House EP called ‘Piano Wunder’.

‘Piano Wunder’ is a full frontal assault using house music’s favourite instrument, and here, Superlover delivers some energy raising stabbed-chords alongside a whaling female lead vocal to create the tension and release of big room proportions.

‘Good Times’ rolls out with a hugely emotive, filtered houser, a big, bold nod to the game-changing 00s sound. The chopped-to-bits piano sample is wrapped in phaser and filter effects but it, together with additional strings and a chunky electro house beat, make this an impressive modern take of a bygone sound that will so easily seduce dance floors big and small.

Superlover´s ‘1996 ’ track lights up the dancefloor from the very first beat. He adds to his super funky French House tune a lot of breathing space, slowing things down and filtering and affecting it in all the right places. It makes for a flirtatious work of a classic House tune that’ll keep the dancefloor burning all night long.

MOTHER RECORDINGS welcome back esteemed Berlin duo MAT.JOE for another EP that is packed with real heat. Originally from Hannover, they moved to Berlin and have since impressed with their soul infused rhythms on plenty of top labels like Hot Creations & Aaarival, but they are regularly supplying the heat for MOTHER!

LOVE STREAM is first and is a seven minute bubbler with nice loose toms, driving sub bass and classic vocal samples that will get dancers moving and shaking. It’s warm and filled with good time vibes.

I GO is more physical, with raw drums and sharp percussive hits all driving along beneath a male vocal with real attitude. It’s sleazy and direct and sure to make you sweat. Last of all.

SO HIGH  is a big track with powerful drum loops, slapping hits and a fiery vocal that all come with healthy bass and rubbery drums. It’s a great way to close out another perfectly functional and fun EP from these ever on point producers.

lightness. This is underground, deep and a little bit evil. The two buddies from 
Zurich pitch the black voice down till it hits rock bottom, put a fat synthie bass 
line to the front and do what they are infamous for: catch the crowd and take 
it on a journey to the unknown! Being high becomes a trip, becomes floating 
through gloomy sound worlds from which there is only one escape: the groove.
