MOTHER RECORDINGS welcome back esteemed Berlin duo MAT.JOE for another EP that is packed with real heat. Originally from Hannover, they moved to Berlin and have since impressed with their soul infused rhythms on plenty of top labels like Hot Creations & Aaarival, but they are regularly supplying the heat for MOTHER!

LOVE STREAM is first and is a seven minute bubbler with nice loose toms, driving sub bass and classic vocal samples that will get dancers moving and shaking. It’s warm and filled with good time vibes.

I GO is more physical, with raw drums and sharp percussive hits all driving along beneath a male vocal with real attitude. It’s sleazy and direct and sure to make you sweat. Last of all.

SO HIGH  is a big track with powerful drum loops, slapping hits and a fiery vocal that all come with healthy bass and rubbery drums. It’s a great way to close out another perfectly functional and fun EP from these ever on point producers.

"im tired of hearing tracks that are obviously made to make the Beatport Top 10 charts! That market doesn’t interest me at all' Instead, I'm looking to release music that will still be around in 10 years time. Music aimed primarily at the danc efloor. Music with soul and depth and meaning. this is the reason i am launching Moxy Muzik." these are the the words Darius Syrossian used to answer a recent question in an interview on why he is launching his new label

And here we are, the first release on the new Moxy Muzik VINYL & DIGITAL label, an essential EP featuring one of his own originals and excellent remixes by Man Power, East End Dubz and Doc Martin. each EP released on the label comes with bespoke, hand-drawn artwork by Charlotte Archer.

The opening track on this first EP on Moxy Muzik is Dance of the Shaman, a turbo charged house cut with warm, rubbery bass made from the unorthodox method of using an Organ underlining slick and driving drums. The infectious groove is full of late night soul and chords stabs bring plenty of human emotions. 

Me Me Me label boss Man Power remixes it into an uplifting track with happy piano chords dancing over the drums. It’s a timeless effort that will get hands in the air and bring real joy to the floor. The legendary Doc Martin then strips things back and layers in some steamy female vocals to his remix and East End Dubz (Vinyl only) does his perfectly floor facing thing with dubbed out drums and slick hi hats keeping you dancing for days. Shaf Huse delivers his trademark peak time House sound that has been heavily supported from the likes of Martinz Brothers.

Future releases on Moxy Muzik will come from the likes of Phil Weeks, Tommy Vicari Jnr, Ray Mono, Christian Burkhardt, Ben Rau, Dense & Pika and of course Darius himself & will cover plenty of sound crossing both house & techno genre's but avoiding the generic obvious sounds that Darius feels is around too much at the moment. 

* THE MOXY MUZIK RESIDENCY & LABEL PARTIES

As the Label is launched, Darius is doing a series of parties across the uk & abroad to coincide with the Launch of the label, 
these are ALL going to be all night long or 6 hour sets, and to be ONLY held in CLUBS. as well as starting a Monthly residency at Joshua Brooks in Manchester.
the purpose of this is to take ‘CLUBBING BACK TO CLUBS’ and at the same time, play long extended sets

Darius explains “ i have always said that being a true dj is playing LONG sets, and having a residency, so i want to take this opportunity to show this is what I’m about right now, of course its great to play the huge festivals, & those are great, but there doesn’t seem to be balance anymore, most shows seems to be big branded events in big spaces & short sets, small clubs are closing all over and i want to keep this culture alive, when i was younger i used to go to a club called the orbit near Leeds, i saw Jeff Mills there, i saw Sven Vath there, playing this small 500 capacity venue and it was magical, this is what i want to bring back”

Having agreed to play a 6hr set at Joshua Brooks Manchester in June, the event sold out in under 24 hours off the back of Darius tweeting a ticket link, before any artwork or even an event page was created, such was demand their was another date added the following week which also sold out
The atmosphere was electric & this led Darius to plan on a residency in 2019

Having already made a big impact on the music scene in a relatively short space of time, in part thanks to his two previous releases on Street Tracks (‘18 Month Free Trial’ and ‘023’), Will Easton returns to the label with a killer new single.  Support from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Diplo, Camelphat and Danny Howard, amongst others, have ensured that Easton’s music is reaching far and wide.  

Bursting with a vibrant bass melody and a soaring piano & strings motifs, ‘Kaleidoscope’ creates pure dancefloor energy and drama from the get go.  Easton keeps the elements nice and simple, whilst always getting the maximum from them, a testament to his knack of crafting contemporary club bombs!

Hot Creations welcome back the dynamic Shadow Child to drop heavyweight single The DBG, his first full release on the label since his earlier acclaimed remixes of Hot Natured and Miguel Campbell. Prolific techno producer Mark Broom also provides a compelling remix.

Thudding kicks launch The DBG paired with eccentric, fizzing electronics that bubble alongside, before reaching a midpoint climax, unfurling into a colossal bassline. Mark Broom adds his groove-laden techno stamp on the remix, transforming it with energetic hats, soulful vocals, horns and hints of the buzzing high pitched synth of the original. On Get Busy finely tuned 909 and 707 drum patterns interlock with a dancing acid synth line.

Having an already genre-bending catalogue of original works and remixes, Shadow Child's music has recently hit labels such as Unknown to the Unknown, Ovum and Super Rhythm Trax. He also has a bi-weekly radio slot on Rinse FM, a Wednesday slot shared with Mall Grab, and has graced the airwaves there for over 6 years. The acclaimed “Curated by..” project on his Food Music imprint this year, has so far seen him pull together remasters and brand new reworks of defining classic tracks by Zero B, SL2, Xpansions and Bump, not only by himself but with Krystal Klear, Rebūke, Jerome Hill, Chambray, 2 Bad Mice and many more. Following a remix on Hottrax, James Burnham aka Burnski is back under his James Solace alias to release Mind Music, a formidable first full release featuring four equally as impressive tracks released this February on Hot Creations.

Keep On sets the tone of this sumptuous release, rumbling sub-bass holds the track together, like a huge wave it slowly gains intensity, given room to breathe until it unfurls into a powerful weapon. A heavy dose of playful funk is applied on Catalyst, with guitar, squelching synth and a dash of warm soul. Mind Music is a deep and hypnotic piece, an addictive vocal loop over laser sharp synth and becomes firmly embedded in the psyche. Finally, Groove does what it says on the tin and sees James expertly craft another solid beat where growling bass combines with licks of pulsating acid that will undoubtedly send the dance floor into raptures.

UK hero James Solace also known as Burnski has made his name through a penchant for moving through many styles of music with ease, always being one step ahead of the trend and mixing the new with the old. Whether it be his trade-mark tech-house grooves released under Burnski or through his Instinct alias and label where he channels drum and bass, garage and 2-step, his productions are always of the highest quality.
