Michael Smyth is the sole contributor in Silk, responsible for the writing, performing and recording of all the music. On third single 'july' we find him at his most focused and realised to date. Previous singles were recorded as experiments which ultimately led to the birth of the project, but on 'july' we hear the first single recorded with the intention of being released as part of the project. Building upon and refining the sound presented on previous releases.

When it came time to mix and master the track, Michael turned to Allan McGreevy (New Pagans) to help bring the track to life. The result marries the wall of sound, and etheral textures of shoegaze with an 90's alternative rock punchiness.
