The track kicks off with a driving beat, which is joined by a distorted guitar, and builds to a crescendo and then the lyrics come in.

The story is fascinating, the entire meeting with this woman could have been 30 seconds, even less, but it’s the depth and impact, not the duration which is explored here.

The woman is untouchable, “She streaks between the shadows and she walks between the rain.” 

She’s outside the reality of the world.

The singer sees himself as beneath her gaze, “I’m laying down and low,” “But if I call her name, she’ll know just who to blame.”

But waiting to be noticed is also a losing game, “If she calls your name, you’ll know she’s gone insane.”

There is no resolution.

All this is presented within a melody which alternates between presenting a feeling of insecurity or bravura.

The instrumental break is interesting, I’m sure I hear a strong Beatles influence in those riffs.

The imagery in the song conveys a complex mix of feelings very effectively.

I really like this.
