Anjunadeep’s Explorations series returns this August with it’s sixth outing. Boasting five label debutants in Xinobi, Yunus Güvenen, Ole Beige, Ceas, and Westseven, and the return of John Monkman, the latest in the series is as diverse as it is distinct.

First up is John Monkman’s ‘Magnolia’. A cascading dive into the deep end, Magnolia’s haunting atmospheres and whirling leads culminate in an evocative track, triumphantly signalling Monkman's return to Anjunadeep after three years.

Featuring a infectious hook set to a pulsating chord progression, Xinobi’s ’Skulls’ is a floor filler for the masses, marking an impressive full label debut for the Lisbon producer.

Having recently released his first track in four years, Bedrock Records affiliate Yunus Güvenen steps up with ‘Lost In Sight’. Originating from Turkey, Güvenen’s production is both celestial and emotive, evoking the classic progressive sound of the 2000’s.

Ole Beige’s offering is an organic track imbued with tribal vocals and percussion. The German producer’s penchant for emotive house has previously seen the support from Pete Tong, epitomised in the soulful detuned chords and driven syncopated synthlines of ‘Tanzanian'.

A culmination of subtle percussion, nuanced keys, and soaring synths, Ceas’ ‘Parosse’ signals a promising future for the French Producer, previously one half of duo We Need Cracks.

Closing out Explorations 06 is ‘Seeds’ from Westseven, a new project from Kuala Lumpur based producer Rory Gallagher. ‘Seeds’ sees Gallagher bounce deep arpeggios off a brooding bassline to craft an enigmatic and hypnotic atmosphere.

Xinobi is Bruno Cardoso a Portuguese grown-up-kid obsessed with music. He’s part of a generation that grew up within the music-blog eruption fueled by Do It Yourself ethics. 
His influences are as diverse as his record collection consequently his productions are eclectic and self-freshened as it’s not easy not to get surprised every time he releases something. Although you can simply label it as Disco or House, the truth is that there is a unique watermark on his sound. That versatility is also visible in his performances. You can travel from fresh-funk to a deeper mood without losing consistency as he can soundtrack from Miami palm-trees to Berlin cold nights; and everything in between. 
After releasing the ep “The Best Of Me” (on Kris Menace label Work It Baby) he gained a real recognition among more established and well-known artists and opinion-makers, and his underground cult become more ample. The title song was even categorized as the “Stardust” of 2011 on Buzz-charts. Fun-fact. (I Hate The Sound of) Guitars, his last single, retained a big recognition due to both its idiosyncrasy and video. 
Together with his friends and work-partners Moullinex and Mr. Mitsuhirato he gave birth to the still-growing-influent Discotexas, a Record Label which is getting more and more followers and admirers and is stepping further to a respectable dimension of scene-credibility.

London powerhouse Slothboogie is gearing up to drop the fourth installment in their SBEDITZ series, this time with an EP of slammers from international man of mystery, Joe Cleen. This time around, the Berlin based producer has delivered four raw and ready cuts in various styles. We’ve got serious disco heat (one soaked in 80’s nightclub neon), a glorious piano jam laced with dubbed out gospel vocals, shuffling drum machine hats and a pimped out G-Funk synth, and ‘​The Fun Part​’, a bubblin’ bass funk groover filled with crisp percussion and jazzy Rhodes.

‘Give You All I Got’ is the perfect opening track for an amazingly cohesive project, a certified disco monster with infectious brass, erotic vocals and huge space toms reworked to launch any dancefloor into the stratosphere! Steadily swung percussion rides nicely in front of a fat bottomed bassline, while Joe takes us to church with a sensual vocal that glides smoothly over the instrumental. ‘Give You All I Got’ keeps the energy contained, and it moves through four minutes with a graceful swagger that’ll surely capture the attention of eager dancers. Honestly, I just watched the new Quincy Jones documentary on Netflix and this EP sounds like something he’d like. That’s saying a lot.

Slothboogie SBEDITZ004 will be available on October 26th, and you’d be wise to set an alert because the project is limited to 500 copies. This is a vinyl only release, so if you don’t spin records, now is the time to practice (it’s great fun, trust me). You’d be dumb not to have this one in your bag, so do your best to be one of 500.
