A very emotional time for you, great song.

A very difficult time for you all and amazing that you managed to produce a song that sings for everyone that experiences, hears and feels your loss, and due to your skills we do... we do.

A touching meeting of words and music to convey this moving, emotional experience. As you say, so many of us share the complexities and pain you’ve captured so well here. I have to ask why the vinyl record sound. is this really taken from a record or is that an artistic touch?

It is a collaboration of band sound and synth. I was conscious of progressive rock. Please listen to it.

I recently re-discovered this daft song and decided to share it with you.   I first 'performed' it live aeons ago, at a very serious spiritual workshop, quite spontaneously (and a bit loudly),  after a day of intense meditation and self-discovery.  Although many appeared to enjoy the song, there was an abiding sense of disgrace at my flippancy and foolishness.  That sense of rebuke and naughtiness delights me still...

An absurd song indeed.. for absurd times :-)

I think it’s important to say that a lot more women than you think have had one or multiple miscarriages. It’s just that it is a subject not often talked about because of the very personal pain that the couple go through. The unborn life has no contact with anybody else except the mother and the emotions are often only remembered by the mother and father.
When Jo and I were expecting our second child we were very excited and looking forward to having another Reeves in our growing family. I will never forget the day that we were told we were going to lose the baby and once told, left sitting in an open A & E waiting area having to cope with all our raw emotions and the prospect of the impending loss amongst the rest of the other patients.
Jo had to go through a painful operation to terminate the pregnancy and it is a day she will never forget. We were a family of three planning being a family of four having now to plan being a family of three recovering from an invisible loss and explain it to our young son.
It was an extremely difficult time but we were fortunate that after a few years we did have two more children. Jo tells me that although it is difficult to explain the connection she had with the unborn child that the presence of life inside her will never be forgotten.
I felt I couldn’t let this moment in our lives pass by without acknowledging our unborn child in some way. The rollercoaster of emotions we shared at that time from euphoria at increasing our family to devastation and bereavement at our loss were felt intensely only by Jo and myself played it’s part in forging the strong bond we have had throughout our relationship. Hey, glad you dropped by. The New Year is upon us. I wish you a happy year ahead. Yet wishes are as fickle as hopes and dreams, which often conjure up nothing more than a brief feel good moment. I hear people nearby celebrating, as if nothing is wrong in their world, while others are fighting for their very lives, at war, or surviving as best they can in extreme and difficult situations. Those disparities has always haunted me… All I need to do is reflect back to see my own trajectory, much like a shooting star burning through the night sky. So what will the new year bring? This will be my 67th new year, so as you might have guessed, I am somewhat jaded when it comes to the anticipation of living in a better world. What I do have is this simple notion that all of us are moving through time together. In a very real sense, we are time travelers. And yet as time leaps forward, say in a hundred years from now, nearly everyone alive in this moment will have ended their journey, save for a few centenarians. Those tough souls will linger on. Don’t get me wrong, I love my life for what it is, but also realize the its fragility. Maybe these maudlin thoughts have influenced this first song of the new year, maybe not. This song is a loosely woven lyrical tapestry of traveling, living in the moment, having a home, lost love, and stargazing. These days, I am not much of a traveler, as far as geography goes. I haven’t been out of the county here for quite some time. Some find that shocking. Others find it sad. I find it to be wonderfully grounding. There are places I’d like to go, but I find I can be wowed by the world right here in the now. In a sense, my daydreams of traveling contain a timeless place. Yet, places do change over time. I did not grow up in this place, and have struggled to make it my home. When I do venture out, I often find the last leg of the journey back home to be the most difficult. It is as if the journey to one place ends, and another journey back begins, even though in essence, it is the same journey. And no matter where I go, I always look up at the stars. They remind me of the places I have been, and the people I have known. Some have left an indelible mark on me. I sometimes want to travel back to see them, but then realize the improbabilities of doing so. Like places, those circumstances have changed. It is then, I take a deep breath, or sometimes sigh, and head back inside my home. Mark
