Mike Hikes

Mike Hikes is a series of location-based DJ sets taking place in some of the most beautiful/inspiring spots in British Columbia. 

This first episode happened at Murrin Provincial Park just south of Squamish. It was about an hours hike to reach the top of the rocky outcrop which looks out over Howe Sound with my wife and disco cat (who you'll see in the video if you look closely).

Episode 2 took place right in front of Cascade Falls - a stunning waterfall North East of Mission. Fun fact, there was so much water coming off the falls that I had to wipe down the decks between every transition. Can confirm the Pioneers XDJ-RXs are quite water resistant !

It took two to tango that day: Toni Savaggio with his 5 strings and Mount Mike with his 5 senses. Mike always said, "Fives are better than fours." Together they journeyed to a rock in the ocean, not far from here. They called it the "Savage Mountain", home to creatures great and small. But big cats like big beats. And small beasts. They hunt at dawn.

Mike Hikes - Episode 3 with Savaggio 🎻| Lighthouse Park

To step into the moment and to go with the flow was always one of my highest goals and also one of my biggest challenges. With music I find my flow and connect with my feelings very naturally and playfully. In this set I want to bridge the gap between more laidback and dreamy tunes and those that stimulate the dancers in us. Furthermore, this mix is composed of three different waves of tension that fade into each other like water that comes and goes at the shore of the ocean. I am very happy to be a part of this amazing podcast series and I want to give a huge thanks to the whole team for making that possible! Mike Hikes - Episode 5 | Myra Falls

Here's a little love story. About me and the Technodrome, a truly amazing stage at Midburn in Israel. But mostly it’s about people, the great group of friends that make magic happen at the regional burn event and parties they organise themselves.

Lev Kraitman can be considered the founding father of the Technodrome, a dome full of lights with a stage in the middle. After he saw me play at AfrikaBurn last year he asked me to come join their camp and play on that stage last October. It was the beginning of a great friendship, that resulted in me coming back to Israel twice already.

This week it was Purim, the Israeli version of carnival to celebrate an important day in their history. It’s a week filled with amazing parties, and the Technodrome group threw one at the most beautiful location you can imagine: The Tower of David in the old centre of Jerusalem. I got to play there, and it felt like a really special new chapter in this book that keeps getting more beautiful with every page.

Thank you Lev, thank you Itamar, thank you Shira and thank you to all the other wonderful human beings that make this magic happen (you know who you are). It’s an honour to be part of the family, and it was an honour to play this set between those ancient walls.

My set is a gift to the Burners, who I consider as our spiritual family. It is an opportunity for them to relax, celebrate, and deepen their connection to the world and themselves. I create a unique atmosphere that leads the Burners into a world of peace and enlightenment.
My set is a symbol of the connection between different cultures, music genres, and the universal energy that surrounds us all. It is an invitation to celebrate our differences and explore our commonalities.
I feel a deep spiritual connection to all of you, and I love you all from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to accompanying you on this journey with my music and celebrating our shared spiritual journey!
