​David has performed at prominent festivals such as Winter Music Conference, Coachella, Outside Lands, Envision, Burning Man, Eclipse, and Lightning in a Bottle. He’s been direct support for the likes of Skrillex, CloZee, Tipper and collaborated with top artists such as Afrika Bambaataa, Sizzla, Alex Grey, Ram Dass, Alan Watts, Ooah (The Glitch Mob), Sidecar Tommy (Beats Antique), William Close, and the Grammy Award-nominated vocalist Chaytanya. His Ascend album reached #7 on the iTunes World Music chart and he had two #1 remixes on the Hype Machine. He's traded remixes with CloZee, Desert Dwellers, iLL Gates, Beats Antique, and SOOHAN.

David has released 7 albums and 13 EPs in the last 15 years as well as various singles and remixes. David’s songs are featured on several TV, cable, movies, and video games. Some highlights include the movie Sold (Emma Thompson as exec producer), Lie to Me (FOX), Outsourced (NBC), Live with Kelly Ripa (ABC), ESPN2, Fox Sports, MTV, MTV2, Fuse, Showtime, HBO, EA sports, and a Right Guard commercial. His songs are featured on several music compilations including Sony, Lonely Planet, Red Bull, Craig’s List, and his song “Shout it Out” was in regular rotation at Starbucks. 

David has been producing music for meditation and psychedelic assisted therapy for many years. He's the music facilitator for high profile meditation retreats with the likes of Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman, Richard Schwartz (IFS), Sunny Strasburg, Gita Vaid, and others. David worked with Phil Wolfson (MAPS researcher, The Ketamine Papers) on the K Dome virtual Burning Man Project. He helped to develop the TRIPP meditation phone app plus contributed music and was the main curator of the music content including well known names such as Moby, Ram Dass, Alan Watts, Desert Dwellers, Dirtwire and others.. In 2023, David released a highly acclaimed album with meditations by Ram Dass. He's also the head of music and sound at TRIPP VR, the #1 meditation platform in virtual reality. In 2020, David co-founded PsyAssist with Sunny Strasburg, a VR and Phone app that features music and guided meditation for psychedelic therapy.

David started his musical journey playing guitar at 8, then playing in the jazz band and marching band in high school. In his 20’s he was signed to various bands and eventually fell in love with the fusion of world music with EDM. He comes from a musical family in New Orleans. His grandfather Oscar Rouzan, was a well known jazz musician and his cousin, Wanda Rouzan, known as the “The sweetheart of New Orleans music”.

When you turn on the radio these days you can find almost anything you want to hear but originality. It simply isn’t there. One song sounds like another and actually one singer sounds like another. The lyrics are hollow and either reflect the worse of stereotypes or are totally unconvincing. Written and in most cases sang by someone who has no idea what they are talking about. Sort of like a preacher singing about the sins of drinking when they have never been in a bar. There are some exceptions to this though and most of you are on my email list. There is someone whom I hope joins that list. His name is Spencer Wilson.
 
We thought we were going to be able to play a gig this month and so I went to Craig’s List looking for musicians. Most of the time when I have done this not much came of it. Yet this past couple weeks ago I did receive an email from Spencer. What struck me at first was his humbleness. Most of the people on Craig’s list think they are the only person to ever play music. Spencer right away assured me of his having some experience, but also made it clear he was ready to learn. While exchanging emails I asked Spencer did he happen to have something on line original I could listen too. Anyone can cover a song, but I like to hear what a musician can come up with on their own. Spencer, once again humble, directed me to a website but at the same time said he hoped I found something I liked as his music was personal. All from life experiences. My question to myself was “ Isn’t that where all music is supposed comes from”?
 
When I went to the site I found five songs. Each unique in their way but each with a kind of trademark sound so as to let a listener know up front who they were going to hear. Sort of like a George Jones, Queen or Pink Floyd thing. First note you know who you are about to hear. Even though I intended to just sample each song I found myself drawn in and listening to each one all the way through. Then I realize why. I believed every word being sung. There was no doubt in mind or heart that Spencer was not blowing smoke, he was the real thing. Something more and more missing in songwriting these days.
 
Everyone has their own taste and I know that. Spencer’s music may not be in everyone’s wheel house but it has distinction and real value and it deserves a listen to. What I am hoping is that someone will either hear that and want it as part of their catalog or artist roster or will at least pass it on to someone who may. Spencer is also the sort of person who will not forget those he has met on the way up, and given the chance I am sure he is on the way up.
 
So I am inviting everyone to go listen to Spencer, proof I was wrong about the music scene being totally dead in North Florida. Imagine that.

"Foreign Twiinz" aka, Shawn & Dashawn Butler are African American and Turkish dubstep producers born on August 19, 1993 in Fort Hood, TX.  Born to a military father, The twins resided in Germany, Turkey and the US while their father served. The twins re-located back to Texas in 1999.  This time, they would call Houston their home.  

Shawn & DaShawn became interested in DJing when in March of 2013, they attended their first festival festival, UME, in South Padre Island TX.  After, they began teaching themselves to DJ and started playing small college parties and events around where they attended college, Texas A&M University in August of 2013.  Their interest began to grow and in Summer of 2014, their journey into production started. "Foreign Twiinz" began to take shape and make their mark within the college market in College Station, Houston, and surrounding cities. Soon after, their fan base grew out of state and they was invited to play the 2015 Backwoods Music Festival. Unfortunately in 2016 1/2 of "Foreign Twiinz" aka Shawn had to step away from the scene and his twin DaShawn continued as a solo act until mid 2021 whereas DaShawn has chosen to step away also and focus on some personal & family development until 2024. 


With influences such as Bro Safari, Excision, Zedd and many others, "Foreign Twiinz" has elevated into one of the top college EDM acts in Texas.  Shawn & Dashawn look to production as an outlet to their many hardships they have faced not only as military children, but a minority break out into an industry where not many thrive.  

Shawn & DaShawn Butler aka "Foreign Twiinz" now reside in Houston, TX.  As producers of Dubstep, The twins uses their southern influences as well as EDM influences to produce unique sounds that many have taken a liking to.
