We are excited to release a 6-track EP from San Francisco based DJ, producer, and remixer Sepehr Alimagham. The San Jose native has been a fixture in the Bay Area house and techno scene for quite awhile now — on the dance-floor, behind the decks, in the studio, or all of the above. Early influences like Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and post-hardcore bands later in high school started his affinity for off-kilter, underground music. In 2017 he began performing live PA sets, utilizing his immense production backlog to perform vivid and electric sets, from potent dance music to psychedelic and esoteric soundscapes. 

"Body Mechanics" is six tracks of acid drenched dance music that ebb and flow from floor filling club thumpers to more cerebral soundscapes. Inspired by the new wave of the acid sound as well as nostalgia from his formative years in the San Francisco music scene, 'Body Mechanics' takes a functional, yet psychedelic approach to 303 styled techno and electronica.  Attention demanding basslines, indiosyncratic structures and hallucinatory atmospheres provide an effective framework for Sepehr's vision. The themes of the track titles take root from a series of dreams Sepehr had with a common atmosphere of strange characters and textures, akin to scenes from David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks'. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a jacket featuring a dark and inviting cyborg hand holding a rose designed by Nicole Ginelli.

Cardopusher kicks off Part Two with the fantastic 'Disobedience' (feat. Lbeeze) a slow-motion drum workout that is like dark disco mangled through a psychedelic filter, with robotic vocals and stiff arps jerking your body. 'Abyss Antidote' is then a flurry of drum breaks and electro bass, frazzled synths and whipping hits that keep you on the edge of your seat. Darkness abounds on the gritty 'Initial Decay' (ft. Lbeeze), which layers up taught drums and hits with spraying synths that come from a dystopian planet. Closing out this epic mini-series is 'Mutant Brain', a cyborg techno meltdown with manic acid for company.

While the world is still on pause, with no certainty of when things will resume back to “normal”, we have decided to keep the Currents VA series ongoing.

Started with the idea of sharing and replicating the same amount of electric vibrational emotions it initially had on us upon first listening to the songs, part II of this series includes (again) some familiar faces joined by friends and artists we highly respect.

Hilltown Disco welcomes St. Theodore, Larionov & Sheepray to the label in a Russian affair, proudly presenting ‘Black Earth Strikes Back’.

‘Black Earth Strikes Back’ is a twisted tale of two-halves – the story of unrest, a battle of the dark, cryptic underbelly looking to overthrow normality, fused together with the outer-core of electro.

Larionov and Sheepray stand for the A-side and take the reins with 3 tracks of warm bleeps, gentle electro beats with elements of sci-fi funk and aspects of italo.

St. Theodore supplies the mechanics for the B-side with three tracks filled with murky, rumbling analogue bass, with piercing acid-lines seeping through. Music that is geared for the dancefloors of the future.

Screeching sirens had woken her in the middle of the night, and now she sat perched at the window peering nosily out of her curtains. The street below had been cordoned off with thick tape and a white tent had been set up a little further down the path. She couldn't make out exactly what was going on amongst the sea of uniformed men and haze of blue and red flashing lights, but she knew it wasn't good. It wasn't good at all.

Athens-based producer Anatolian Weapons has been churning out the releases thick and fast, the next of which lands on Milanese imprint Marguerite Records. Marking the 9th release on the label, following a series of V/A releases and an instalment from Raw Ambassador and Antonio, the three originals on Blood On The Pavement are inspired by an imagined, distorted crime scene. Navigating industrial and EBM, from a trippy 303 workout to a stripped down version, backed up on the flip by two reworks from Nashville artist Daniel Holt.

8-track LP from the archives of Alessandro Adriani's minimal wave project.

Italian-born and Berlin-based producer and DJ Alessandro Adriani, owner of Mannequin Records, let us dive into the vast archives of Newclear Waves.

The resulting collection of 8 tracks can be described as minimal wave pur sang, reminiscing of the darkness and doom from the cold war period.

The exorbitant and jumpy synth lines and derailing revolving drum machines keep us moving, all analogue of course. With this album, Adriani confirms his musical excellence.
