Presenting the second instalment of the now-classic collaboration between Lo.Renzo, Nicolo Melocchi & Asha Sapera.

After releasing Rajasthan in Dub Vol.1 back in 2018, the song was met with great support all around; from Spotify and JioSaavn editorial playlists, and artists within the global bass / psychedelic scenes, to becoming a niche soundtrack to Indian wedding videos.

'Birda' is a finely-refined & dynamic take on dub music's fusion with Rajasthani music. The song features Kalbeliya singer & dancer, Asha Sapera, on vocals, Nicolò Melocchi on the Pungi wind instrument, and Lo.Renzo providing the rest of its multi-instrumental and production ingenuity.

This collaboration represents the ultimate nexus of modern electronic and regional music, modern and traditional culture, and cross-Eurasian collaboration.

Kami-O is a Glasgow based producer & DJ who specialises in dubstep and grime. He put out his first self released project, the 'Hara EP' in 2020, which got him noticed by the renowned label FatKidOnFire, who signed him for an EP and mix later that same year.

Following this he released his debut album 'Biren' in 2021, a project dedicated to his late grandfather and inspired by his Indian heritage. It released to high acclaim, with features in Complex, TRENCH, Electronic Sound and Polymer Zine, where it achieved a 9/10 rating and the title of album of the month.

After this, he dropped a couple of vinyl exclusive, 2 track EPs with known underground labels in the scene, LDH Records and Soil & Sound, plus also recorded mixes for platforms including Rinse FM, Subtle Radio, Rinse France and SeekSickSound.

Now he's back with his 2nd album 'Veiled'. A release inspired by his struggles with his mental health and social isolation, which were only heightened during the lockdown when work on the album began. Featuring vocal collaborations from Rider Shafique, Amos and Jae Mann, this is Kami-O's most diverse and expansive release to date, spanning 10 tracks of consistently surprising, forward thinking music. 'Veiled' will be released on November 11th digitally on all platforms and on limited edition cassette through bandcamp.

Jah-Tek presents the album title track 'Veiled', a beautiful sonic exploration, diving into the depths of eastern instrumentation and harmony, accompanied by soothing low-end warmth.

I think it's safe to say that Substrada's consistent work over the last couple of years hasn't gone unnoticed. Enjoying releases on the likes of Locus Sound, Infernal Sounds and Dread Or Dead, the Belgian producer has become one of the more prolific in the genre and the latest imprint to recognise his excellence is FatKidOnFire, who offer him a spot on the vinyl exclusive branch of their catalogue. Weston may not be a name that is widely recognized yet, but its one that we’re certain has a very bright future. Hailing from Kelowna, BC, he is another example of this region’s immense and deep talent pool. Previously releasing music under the moniker Subclaim, Bryce has been continually improving his chops and working with other producers and vocalists. He has released music on Mat The Alien’s stellar Really Good Recordings and has also remixed Aufect alumni, Half Normal. When he sent us this juicy demo we knew the time was nigh to start working together. ~
This EP is a collection of 4 precision engineered cuts - A perfect balance of Deep and Dark atmospheres that’s lush, warm and brimming with character. These tracks brought us back to the era when we first fell in love with Dubstep and serve as a reminder to why the genre is still alive and well. Weston has enlisted the immense talents of MC Ill Chill, vocalist Sarah Zad and fellow Kelowna-based producer, Toltek on the EP and it shows this young producer’s adept skill in really unifying the tracks and creating a compelling, cohesive package. ~
The EP starts off with the title track, “Ritual”, a dark and brooding Dubstep anthem featuring Ill Chill’s signature baritone refrain over top of sparse but precise drums and mega tonne sub bass. An ode to the magic herb that BC has become well-known for. “Electric Vibration” brings the intensity down and smooths out the vibes with mellow instrumentation and an haunting saxophone riff. Sarah Zad’s buttery smooth verse recounts a deep passion and the magic of a shared love. Ill Chill’s verse tells the other side of the story and we’re left wondering where the wet spot is. “Judgement” is a moody Dubstep stepper that is cloying with it’s simplicity, yet it’s haunting chord stab and sparse vocal stay with you long after listening. Lastly, “Spectraminds” sees Weston and Toltek link up to create a unique, psychedelic footwork cut. Interesting polyrhythmic kicks provide the foundation for saturated bass stabs and an hypnotic arpeggiated sine wave, punctuated by dripping FX stabs.
