Kasablanca unveil ‘Can You Hear Me Now?’, the second single from their forthcoming ‘Immunity EP'.

This enigmatic melodic techno duo exploded onto the scene in summer 2020 with their Lane 8 collaboration, 'Run', a bonafide hit for both artists. As of January 2022, it’s been streamed nearly 18 million times on Spotify and charted at no.1 on SiriusXM BPM. 

Kasablanca's legend continues to grow. ‘Run’ was followed by their debut album 'Human Learning', and they've been touring globally ever since. The duo debuted their live show, replete with racks of modular synthesisers, at Red Rocks Amphitheater in September 2021 while supporting US bass superstar Rezz. 

In December 2021, they joined us at Anjunabeats, remixing Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy' as part of the '10 Years of Group Therapy' celebrations. Their first original music on the label arrived soon after. Released in January 2022, ‘Immunity’ playlisted on Diplo’s Revolution station on Sirius XM, and was described as “a sleekly propulsive slice of melodic techno” by Billboard. 

First heard in Lane 8’s winter 2021 mixtape, ‘Can You Hear Me Now?’ is the latest from one of dance music’s most intriguing acts. We're excited to say that there's more to come.

Italian artist Matisa today reveals details of Tongue, a new four-track EP for Peggy Gou’s Gudu label. The lead single, also titled ‘Tongue’, is out now.

Born in Rome but based in Florence, Matisa has become one of dance music’s most talked-about ascendant talents, releasing music on some of the most critically acclaimed labels on the circuit - including Optimo Music, Steel City Dance Discs, On Loop and Permanent Vacation - with DJs such as Ben UFO, Peach, Shanti Celeste, Eris Drew, Sally C, Mall Grab and more supporting her music.

With four tracks that range from sun-drenched piano house to mid-tempo breaks, with a narrative flow that rewards listening to it as a full EP rather than picking tracks, Tongue showcases Matisa’s full range as an artist - resulting in perhaps her most all-encompassing release yet; a true showcase of what makes her such a special talent.

In Matisa’s own words, “This EP is a musical journey. I wanted each track to represent a stage of this journey, from departure to take-off, peak time and closing. I went deep into what the journey is for me and my ambition to make it all come alive with my very first vocal, and felt Tongue was the track to explore this expression.”

“This EP is a really special one for me. I tried to put everything into it”, she continues. “‘Brunela’ is dedicated to my Father, ‘Lusia’ to my Mother; ‘Sunrose’ for my love for flowers, and ‘Tongue’ to the feeling of passion and romance. When I called my friend Walter Ricci to collab on some music , my first goal was to go “back to music” , back to played instruments , real bass guitar , real emotions ! The song was born when we were chilling in the
studio, playing music from artists like Coltrane, Jamiroquai, and Incognito, and this is what we came up with. 
“Head on my shoulder” deserved also an amazing artwork made by the legend Riccardo Ferrara that translates the feelings of the song into an illustration!

gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union come together with featured vocalist Remo for two classy new house cuts on Kindisch.

gleb filipchenkow is a Russian artist who frequently collaborates with others and always cooks up enthralling house grooves on labels like The Basement Discos, Secret Fusion and VOD. For this one, he works with countryman Alexey Union, a DJ, composer and musician who makes sounds for mind, body and soul and has done for almost a decade.

Remo is the featured guest on both of these excellent tracks, starting with 'Weak.' There's a humid Afro-house feel to its deep rolling drums and late-night synth charm. The whispered vocal is delicate and soulful as it floats next to soft sax lines and wispy melodies. 'High' is a little more direct with busy percussive chatter and more tense vocals that rise up above the sustained chords. It's still an intimate track but one that builds the mood on the dance floor to more energetic levels.

This is a stylish pair of emotional house sounds from gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union.

Having initially forecast his production energy into his own Tartan imprint, Wallace’s music quickly developed a cultish following among record collectors and influential DJs including Gilles Peterson, Optimo, Hunee and Ryan Elliott. Another supporter has been CWPT’s founder Palms Trax, who, following releases on Studio Barnhus and Rhythm Section, snatches four highly sought-after tracks for the seventh release on the label, each showcasing Wallace’s inimitable and enviable skills as an engineer and a willingness to stoke the sort of organic euphoria that DJs dream of igniting.

Amongst the curios, rarities and other finds that have peppered Palms Trax’s sets this past summer, it’s title track ‘Willow’ that has levitated entire club and festival dance floors like few others. Escalating from a disco percussion loop, ‘Willow’ soon brings on high-energy melodies and a captivating sense of something more ethereal, seemingly reinvigorating old tricks with exciting new flavours: if you only raise your hands to one climactic snare roll this year, we ask you to make it this one.

This refreshing intersection between flourish and function is felt even more heavily on ‘Breathe’, a contemporary electronic battle weapon whose breaks-and-bassline arrangement fluctuates between weightless wonder and heavy business. Frontloaded with the detail and atmosphere of a vintage Chems or Leftfield cut, 'Breathe' exhales then explodes all the skill and reverie of the most memorable 90s techno.

Wallace appears to dip into the chillout room for the swampy rhythm of ‘Masada’, before proving his slow-motion mettle, a Sergeant Peppering of psychedelia creating true hedonistic density and groove. In conclusion and on the contrary, ‘River Dancers’ maintains subtle hypnosis at a similar pace with much less, employing simple timbres and a stuttering, innocent vocal inflection to conjure wide-eyed whimsy far downstream from the EP’s earlier, maximal wonders.

The latest release from Higher States finds label boss Roger Martinez presenting a new three-track showcase. Since emerging almost two decades ago, Dutch sound architect Roger Martinez has developed a distinct brand of progressive house and techno. Renowned for his pristinely produced club-effective approach, Roger has compiled an impressive resume across a near twenty-year stretch. Balance Music, Lost & Found, Sudbeat and his own Higher States imprint have been regular landing spots for his transcendent productions, in turn yielding support from Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sasha, as he continues to maneuver himself through the confines of modern electronic music. With 2024 getting underway with remixes for Mango Alley and UV, Roger now returns to his Higher States imprint, presenting his first original project of the year 'Maya / Portal / Resonance'. 

Rounding out the release are the hypnotic qualities of 'Resonance', a track where Roger balances the loud-soft dynamics which seem to work so well on the dancefloor. Superficially, it might come across as a classic chunk of progressive-tech, but it exists in a different sonic world, as multiple layers of rebounding rhythms, stirring chord changes and arpeggiated sequences get woven around a core of beefy grooves and cleverly coaxed atmospheric swells. The break's beginnings bring a sense of controlled chaos, as deconstructed vocals shapeshift and melt into a wave of hyperbolic arps, sparking a finale that is equal parts uplifting and groovy. A fitting conclusion to what is a unique look into Roger's repertoire, and the infectious sound he has built his career on.
