Astros de Mendoza, formed in México in october 2012 by Alan Olivas “Pirul” and Diego H. “D2000”, by exploring a huge variety of tropical and electric sounds from all around the world. 

Astros de Mendoza presents the first official album of remixes to Los Mirlos mythical banda from Peru. 

After start a beautiful friendship on the 2017 European tour in which some shows shared the stage, the idea was born of making this material together with several friends who are producers of the new electropical wave from different parts of the world to honor 47 years of career of the creators of the psychedelic cumbia.

El dúo mexicano, Astros de Mendoza, conformado por Alan Olivas “Pirul” y Diego H. “D-2000”, fue creado en octubre del 2012, al explorar una gran variedad de sonidos tropicales orgánicos y electrónicos del mundo. 

Astros de Mendoza presenta el primer disco oficial de remixes a Los Mirlos mítica Banda de Peru. 

Después de hacer una linda amistad en el tour de europa 2017 en el que compartieron escenario algunos shows, nace la idea de hacer este material junto a varios amigos productores de la nueva ola electropical de diferentes partes del mundo para honrar 47 años de carrera de los creadores de la cumbia psicodélica.

Soy María Anarquía, originaria de México. Mi camino por la música en realidad es corto; tengo 2 años como Dj. Mi comienzo fue espontáneo, tuve la fortuna de conocer artistas que me impulsaron a perderle el miedo a los controles.
Comencé a mezclar ritmos afros, tengo fuerte inclinación por las percusiones, en algún momento de mi existencia tuve acercamiento con el Afro Tradicional proveniente de Guinea. Tengo conocimiento de algunos ritmos y melodías, lo que en la actualidad me permite experimentar de distinta manera con la música. Considero el Afro como la cuna de distintos géneros, la herencia cultural que nos trajo la resistencia de un pasado que hasta la fecha percibimos, se transformó en todo un legado musical. 
En el presente me encuentro en el proceso de aprendizaje, la música no tiene fin. Estoy experimentado con mezclas de diversos géneros como: el house, Tech, latín, cumbia, y todo lo que lleve un tambor. 
Y pues nada… ¡A gozar!

After the huge success of our first exposure in Root a Pacifica, people got in love with the sounds, richness, and beauty of the afropacific music from the black communities of Colombia.

And having the likes of Uproot Andy, or Dave Nada dropping some of the sounds on their sets, it was just about time, that the Marimba driven genre could meet a sonic update!!

Ironically this album is released while Colombian people celebrate their battle of independence, while the minorities are struggling to exercise self-government, and usually sovereignty, over their territory.

Fortunately we could capture, compile, and share the whole movement; as it needed to be exposed outside the south american paradise, so it could be redefined by NY’s Banginclude and Barber Sonora.


The album drops 6 Bangers which flirt from dancehall to dembow, heavy bass and latin moombahton, while keeping the Pacific heritage of Gualajo, chirimia, marimba, and Choco’s rawness.

Lyrically conscious and musically rebellious!! Latino Resiste supports Minorities as we are part of them!!

LA BOA is a 10 piece Afro-Colombian jazz group with heavy influences from the Antilles islands in the Caribbean. 

Like the recent explosion in the British jazz scene being driven by artists like KOKOROKO, Ezra Collective and others, La Boa are driving the bubbling Colombian jazz scene forwards. 

Influenced by Colombian great Lucho Bermudez, La BOA fuse traditional Afro-Colombian Caribbean sounds with their original afro-beat rhythms, jazz and electronic sensibilities. 

LA BOA’s last album ‘Volumen’ released in 2017 featured Quantic collaborator Nidia Gongora and saw them garner support from Rolling Stone, Noisey, Sounds & Colors and others. They count many trail blazing alternative Latin musicians as fans including Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero), Pedro Ojeda (Quantic’s Ondatrópica) and many more. 

The group is made up some of Colombia’s finest musicians and is spear-headed by bassist Daniel Michel who is originally from Mexico but for the last 7 years has been living in Colombia. As well as forming LA BOA, over his career Daniel has played bass on tour for Lee Scratch Perry and under the artist name Nairobi he has recorded an album with greats like Mad Professor and Sly & Robbie. As a musician with endless energy he also plays synths and bass for cumbia influenced, techno Colombian buzz group, El Leopardo. 

‘Por Eso’ (‘That’s why) blends merengue with Afro-Colombian rhythms and fused with horns, saxophone and synths the track is an upbeat call to resistance and social action around the world. 

‘Máquina’ (Machine) is an instrumental track where the hypnotic and infectious machine like repetition of Afro-Colombian beats are fused with elevating horns and a sprinkling of funk. 

The Por Eso / Máquina EP is an exciting fusion of Caribbean and traditional Afro-Colombian sounds showcasing the growing Colombian jazz scene and revealing the promise of what’s to come.
