WHAT ?

Nastya Vogan is a Kyiv-based electronic producer and composer, a resident of ∄. With a background in classical music, she opens
up an electronic space to channel different influences from rare
leftfield techno, electro and breakbeat to innovative electro-
acoustic performances with an orchestra.

She performed at different venues across Ukraine and beyond including Moscow’s NII, Brave Factory Festival and Схеma.

Earth-shattering techno and intricate textures make up the delicate yet impactful sound of Alienata. The Spanish-born, Berlin-based artist is a self-described “sound obsessive” whose influences span anything from electro, ACID, dub, IDM, dark disco, techno, industrial atmospheres, and strains of sounds from both Detroit and Chicago. As founder of Discos Atónicos, she’s been able to platform and materialise her own influences, sharing music and making a mark.

With an approach to music that often leans towards alternative shades of techno, adding a blend of acid, electro, and old-school vibes, to traditional hard-hitting aspects, Alienata straddles high-calibre artistry, reminding us that techno can be complex, as well as wonderful loud and unignorable - and it's the nuance, and attention to detail, that often makes the most impact.

Ahead of Alienata’s return to the club this weekend (2nd-3rd December), she swoops in for the next edition of our mix series. Episode 027 is a breath of fresh air. That being said, it's a journey that is already taking us mentally into the dark, comforting, audio sanctuary that is our own Room 2 – where you’ll find Alienata smashing out her signature style for a special B2B set with Neighbourhood founder and club regular Tasha during the Saturday night section of our next Continuum.

Strap in for a delightfully alienating journey. Warming, hypnotic techno, a driving industrial tone, and dark, obscure elements.

Keith Anderson:DJ and Timeline Music UK cofounder, Keith Anderson, was brought up the good wayexposed to the timeless quality of Electro in the late 1980’s. Fascinated by this enigmaticsound, he bought his first two electro records Herbie Hancock Rocket  and Newcleus Jam onit This only solidified his love for Electro and he ended up buying all the classic tracks on12inch circa 1986 and 1987.1988-1989 would see Keith getting into the fresh worlds of Acid House and Techno. The lovewas there as it was with Electro. Following the inspiration, Keith frequented the Soul 2 SoulShop in London, eventually buying The Dance by Derrick May. It was during these yearsthat Keith set out to shift the gears into Djing.From the DJ perspective, Keith's main objective is to bring the power to a mix selectingtracks that work well together to create a powerful blend, to allow the creation of a storythroughout. As Keith puts it, a good DJ is about mixing and selecting good music.Keith's history as a live DJ goes back to Eurobeat 2000 at Frankie D legendary club. Keith Anderson- Minimal Detroit

Jack Coleman, aka JAK, is a veteran DJ, producer and live performer based in Portland, Oregon. As JAK, he's released on Northern Parallels, Illegal Alien, Trapez, Resource Records and other quality techno labels. He also puts out electro under the moniker D.Vices. Jack runs the SubSensory Recordings label and the long-running SubSensory event series. 
 
Recorded live at SpkrBox Detroit on Memorial Day 2024, JAK’s 1-hour, 54-minute session blends acid, raw techno and proper electro.

Me and Ben thought it would be fun to play a long DJ set together at Globus, the upstairs floor at Tresor in Berlin. 
We last played together (as Frequency 7) in May 2013. This time we played a ‘back to back’ DJ set, I’m pretty sure playing 2 tracks each for the whole six and a half hour set. All we had in mind beforehand was to start with some Dub and ‘see where it goes’. 

It was a lot of fun so we wanted to share the recording with you.
