Volume Two has arrived. Four Run Tingz tracks get the remix treatment on RTZD013 just in time for summer. Featured are some of the most successful tracks in the label’s history, harking back as far as the fifth release on wax back in 2011. The boys have enlisted the capable talents of Serum, Levela, Gold Dubs & Koznik & Khavy to give their take on four classic riddims that shaped the label over the past half-decade.

D&B heavyweight Serum takes on the undeniable might of the late Tenor Fly’s vocal onslaught in his remix of Serial Killaz & Run Tingz Cru’s ‘Murder Ya Sound’ - his trademark stabs accompany, what could be described as, an unconventional beat. This one’s been sitting in the wings for a while and it’s great to see it finally get a release.

Next up, Levela applies what can only be described as twenty first century savagery to 2012’s ‘It’s A Junglist Ting’. The skill in successfully utilizing the top notch vocal talents of both David Boomah & Blackout JA on a Jump Up track is not something that should be taken lightly; Levela delivers big time with this ferocious number.

Recent label regular Gold Dubs provides the rolling Jungle vibes for his remix of ‘Took My Breath’. One of the best tracks from the Bristol back-cat gets a fresh lick of paint and it does not disappoint in the slightest! Lady Fyah’s iconic hook is preceded by rumbling analogue sounding bass that plays out over the drop following a hair raising reggae-skank-laden intro. Contender for pick of the bunch.

Belgian duo Koznik & Khavy provide us with our second dose of Jump Up. Super tight drum work and inventive use of Tenor Fly’s vocal make for a captivating intro - come the drop though it’s head nod central as the EP is rounded off in upfront style.

From Birmingham to London and through the Rabbit Hole, 90’s underground icon Cheshire Cat, known for his work with Leftfield and Bally Sagoo, appeared floating in a tree outside the studio. The control room was immediately transported by the power of Jah Ionizer to Wonderland. Aries & Jacky put the headphones out the window, held the mic, and recorded Cheshire Cat’s fantastic allegorical fables of life, love, women and weed.

Five riveting tales of adventure start with classic lover’s music meets bubbling jungle on ‘I’m Sure’, a romantic conversation from the man who’s normally happy with ‘Just the Herbs’. Cheshire explains just how much lyric can come from results of exposure to the healing of the nation. Of course no conversation about the trees can be complete without the appearance of a ‘Police Officer’, and the sage advice given by Mr. Cat would be well overstood and heeded by overzealous constabulary, globally. Moving forward, ‘Troddin On’ reveals an irrepressibly positive point of view and the reason that Cheshire Cat is always smiling when he throws his corn. Since the 90’s he was known in the dance as ‘Bounty Hunter’, and to complete the musical selection for this EP we dug deep into our soundclash collection for some authentic cassette flavour!

After more than 25 dirty releases on Liondub International, our 26th delivers a dancehall-ready vocal and version from Liondub main man Marcus Visionary, featuring a new lyrical appearance from legendary Jamaican vocalist Johnny Osbourne. Straightforward as its title, 'Jungle Skanking' opens with a swinging pure reggae section before Visionary brings the drums for the main body, even while the remaining instrumentation stays mostly unchanged. Over sirens and horns, the legend sings the praises of skanking to jungle with the youth to this modern music. The flip side adds an extra layer of dub effects throughout to thicken the atmosphere while stripping out the vocal, but it brings the opportunity to appreciate the many finer details in Visionary's production and stands fine on its own. This is a perfect example of a proper modern day Ragga Jungle anthem and is perfect for dubplate voicing and for live MC's to chat over at the dance. With a strong dose of positive vibrations Johnny Osbourne and Marcus Visionary nice up the dance for Liondub International in 2015 and beyond.

Following Sabrina Malheiros' brand new album entitled "Clareia" out now on @faroutrecs comes three major remixes from three major players from the now multi-generational broken beat scene. We are very happy to present to you a remix from the legendary IG Culture, an early pioneer of the Broken Beat movement. 

Brazilian rhythms have always been a foundational influence on the broken-beat and future jazz movements, and this EP continues to explore these connections, a running theme throughout Far Out's 23 year history with Seiji, Mark Pritchard, Afronaught, Domu, Da Lata and Jazzanova being just a few of the names to have contributed to this particular avenue of the label's pantheon of dance music.

The joyful samba-soul in the title track of Sabrina Malheiros' latest album features the bass and keys of Brazilian Jazz-funk legends Azymuth, and is inspired by the quest for clarity in the face of difficult times; Clareia in Sabrina’s own words “means to clear, light, brighten or illuminate”. But this remix EP beautifully ruptures the clarity in style, each crafting the breezy Brazilian beats into their own distinct brand of future-thinking club-funk... these beats were made to be broken!

Munir represents the new wave of millennial multi hyphenates - Bandung’s boogie darling is a record collector, label owner, graphic designer, and music producer who has put Indonesia on the map with his deliriously infectious disco edits.

His vault is the envy of many collectors, well stocked with soul rarities, all thanks to his uncle, who often brought back precious loot from his travels as a sailor.

Growing up in the capital of Indonesia’s West Java province greatly shaped the producer’s musical influence - the advent of bootlegging culture reached its height in the eighties, where the ripping of obscure pop, funk, and boogie from vinyl to cassettes exploded throughout the city. Munir continues this legacy in his technique by actively sampling cassette tapes, to retain the crackling bootleg authenticity, and sharing that bit of aural culture through his work - some things can never grow old.

Munir has had a few releases under the label, so he is no stranger to the Darker Than Wax family - but this latest project from the irresistible force is definitely one of the most exciting yet. “Veranda Grande” still retains his signature analogue sound and is very much driven by rhythm and groove, albeit a little more polished and void of the campy, sampled vocals. The dynamics abound the course of the album grows funkier in their little variations and is one that keeps rewarding with repeat listens.
