BEHIND THE SCENES INFO!

Quick rundown - The whole thing is made up of Reason instruments.  The opening chord sound is actually almost all the instruments from all the tracks on the album playing in chorus through a reverb.  The plucks are mostly Subtractors on basic waveforms (like square waves or sawtooths) and the bass sounds are a mix of Subtractor instruments and the PX7 FM synth rack extension.  The chords in the main of the track are a mix of orchestral soundfonts and more synth work.  Drums are just drum samples - there's lots of really nice kicks and snares in  Reason's Kong sample folder.

Now the interesting secret about this track - it actually started life around a decade ago as a remix of Faithless' song "Crazy English Summer" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4YIvscVUac - but I put the whole track through filters and a vocoder to isolate and then repitch the vocal line to my own melody and built the chords and progressions you can hear in Knowledge. As for tips on how to approach a creating a new song, as the above evidences, I would keep hold of every little thing you do - a sketch of a track from years ago might be what your latest project needs today :)
