Taking charge of this week's Rhythmic Culture podcast is Bogotá-born, Miami-based artist Bitter Babe. The up-and-coming electronic music connoisseuse and TraTraTrax affiliate has been pushing for Latinx representation in the electronic music scene for the last 9 years. She is a member of ECO, a Colombian platform that promotes the self-management and interdependence of national and regional electronic ecosystems and a member of Latitudes, a space that aims to amplify labels, collectives and artists from the Latin American electronic music scene.

Her mix is a true 60-minute masterclass in contemporary electronic gems, that touches upon all sorts of rhythms and obscurities for you to discover.

On Friday 7th October, Danish ambient artist Sofie Birch and Polish experimental singer Antonina Nowacka will release a collaborative album via Unsound and Mondoj. To celebrate they’ve now joined forces for an Unsound Podcast featuring some of their favourite music and influences, including Alice Coltrane, Enya, the soundtrack of Tarkovsky’s Andrei Rublev and a special rework of their morning performance at last year’s Unsound into a lush ambient meditation.

Circular Square is a digital creator coming from South of France based in Brussels and working with technologies such as 3D and computer music. He started his music production at around 14 years old, experimenting by himself the tools of electronic music. His father constructs a strong part of Circular Square’s music culture with early IDM (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares) but also with free Jazz and UK Jazz.

His music is made for experimental club heads who enjoy complex rhythms and big bass but it also has an IDM vibe ; you can sit on your couch and follow a journey into his digital world where the time is stretchable and every object’s sound design evolves.

DETOUR, Pittsburgh mainstays behind the Hot Mass night of the same name, celebrate 10 years as a label with a double LP of the locally sourced, grassroots techno that’s been their raison d’etre since 2014. DTR-007 is a coming together of DETOUR members, long-time associates, rising local artists and members of the ever-expanding global Pittsburgh diaspora.

The result is a true reflection of the DETOUR ethos; a selection of ten expertly-curated tracks that is more than the sum of its parts; an homage to the city, its producers, DJs, dancers and the outsized influence they’ve had on the global techno underground.

DTR-007 ‘s ode to Pittsburgh electronics spans generations and genres. Booming maximalism from local originator Shawn Rudiman sits beside ace outings from already-accomplished next-gen producers Gladstone Deluxe, Davis Galvin, and Torvvo. After a spree of recent releases on Dark Entries and her own Jacktone imprint, Doc Sleep returns to the label for the first time since her 2016 debut EP with a slice of resonant deep house. Hot Mass co-founder Paul Fleetwood and perennial multidisciplinary favs, slowdanger appear on wax for the first time with levitating cuts of late-night hypnosis. Longtime modular enthusiast Nick Breinich commits a slab of true-school Midwest acid techno while DETOUR co-founders Naeem and Gusto each contribute tracks in signature styles. Naeem’s soaring electro melodics bring the compilation to an emotional peak before Gusto sends it off with an underwater broken beat chiller. The end product is an exhibition of steaming, sometimes-storming, always-deep heat calibrated precisely for your dance floor’s moodier moments.

I have not been able to recover access to my other account [https://soundcloud.com/ha-kekong] for a couple of years.  I have tried a few times to get back into it but SoundCloud doesn't trust me.  Same phone number, same email addresses, and they still claim that they can't verify my identity.  I created that account about three years ago as a substitute to my regular account which SoundCloud temporarily closed.  They closed it as part of some upgrade procedure in their system, the result of a bug that affected many accounts, about two years ago.  Since SC did not inform its users I didn't know if that was permanent or not, so I created that other account which I can't access.  Don't be mad if I have not replied to your message in the past two years, that's because I never got them ; ) ... You can always reach me here though.

You can't see it because of the angle with which I took the shot, aiming down, but beyond those blocks is the sea.  To the left is the Mediterranean, to the right is the Atlantic Ocean.  No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
