KeepVibesNear is an Alternative R&B artist from London. With the looks of a 90ies R&B superstar and a delivery that owes more to King Krule than to D'Angelo, KVN doesn't fit into the usual boxes.

Raised in Romford, London with family ties in Lagos, he has built a loyal following with a couple of self-released songs and already enjoyed support from tastemakers like Jamz Supernova (BBC) and Jyoty (Rinse FM). After participating in The Silhouettes Project (check his single “What U Need“) KVN signed with Melting Pot Music, where he is releasing his new single “Gently“.

On “Gently” melancholic Wurlitzer notes reverberate across a cold sonic landscape, beautifully accompanied by KVN’s tender tones, channeling a wintery tale about reconciliation. KVN explains: “Gently as a song represents the build-up in an argument with your other half. That moment at the end of an argument when you give in to your care for the other person. You take a breath, put aside your ego. The turmoil in the verses compared to the make up in the chorus represent the balance in compromise.“

London based alternative R&B artist KeepVibesNear follows his much-praised track “Gently” on Melting Pot Music with new single “M25”. On “M25”, KVN spices up his ‘Noir R&B’ sound with some bars from East London rapper and illustrator Kieron Boothe. 

KVN describes “M25” as “a song about tension and build up.“ A tribute to one of England’s most important and busiest roads, enclosing almost all of Greater London, KVN explains: “I spend a lot of days looking forward to just getting home and winding down with that special someone. For some it’s a booty call, for some it’s seeing their girlfriend/boyfriend after a long day. M25 is my anthem for ‘What are we doing later?’ It's an ode to how we can have that someone that makes us so excited to be where they are.“ 

“M25” is produced by Harvey Whyte who recently laced tracks for the likes of Greentea Peng and Fatima and runs his own label, Studio 117. Like KVN, Kieron Boothe contributed to the first volume of The Silhouettes Project (2020) alongside artists like Enny, Kofi Stone and Summers Sons. 

KVN's “Gently“ enjoyed major support from Jamz Supernova (BBC 1XTra/BBC 6), Jyoty (Rinse FM), WDR Cosmo (Germany), Wordplay Mag and many more. It was featured on the “Jazz Rap“ playlist on Spotify and the music video scored a premiere at Complex UK. MIMS is excited to premiere the original and off-kiter grooves of "Spotlight", by young Calfornian beat maker, Telemakus, in collaboration here with drummer/producer bastrd.

“Stoplight”, the second single from Telemakus’ forthcoming record “The New Heritage”, showcases the artist's more experimental side. Fusing mixed metered drum patterns with angular chord stabs, the track is a continuous journey where the melody continues throughout, but the repetition contrasts the improvisations throughout the song cyclically.  Telemakus composed the track alongside producer/drummer bastrd, writing an arrangement that feels fresh and unique. 

After a childhood of listening to Dilla, Madlib, Glasper, and the modern hip hop/jazz greats, then starting his musical journey writing beats with an MPC, Telemakus seeks to further expand that off kilter beat focused sound by pairing it with the virtuosic sounds of the jazz funk greats like George Duke and Herbie Hancock. 

Fans of modern, beat focused jazz of artists like Kiefer, Rob Araujo and Anomalie will also find something they identify with in this track. "Stoplight" really showcases Telemakus’s versatility as a producer and artist. The second single from forthcoming album 'The New Heritage", due for release on October 13.

Ever since I listened to FORM and Afta Thoughts Vol.1 beat music has changed for me. “Rising” by Summer-Pearl and produced by Alma De La Selva & Paya, is the fifth single from The Silhouettes Project. 
 
The Silhouettes Project is a new platform for up-and-coming Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz artists from the UK. It is not a record label or management team, it is a community project. The Silhouettes Project provides an open space - a recording studio and live venue located within the Total Refreshment Centre in Hackney, London - where MCs, singers, musicians and producers can connect and create.

The Silhouettes Project was founded by community organisers/artists Asher Korner (aka Kosher) and Jaden Osei-Bonsu (Eerf Evil) in 2019. When they told us about the project and played us some of the music we were instantly hooked and joined the collective as label partner. The art direction is executed by Sergio “SagaUno” Alférez, an acclaimed designer and illustrator from Medellín, Colombia.

Starting in September, we release a new single each Thursday from artists like 
Kofi Stone, Summers Sons, Enny, KeepVibesNear, Manik MC, Lex Amor, Louis The Hippie, Summer-Pearl, Joe Beard and many more.

All 15 singles will also be available on one LP towards the end of the year.
