‘Headspace’ is the second single by Ray Lozano, releasing on January 26th. Ray Lozano is a German-Filipino singer, songwriter and producer born and raised in Cologne. In her work she likes to dabble in playing piano and bass. With ‘Headspace’, she offers another musical short story taken from her debut album ‘Pairing Mode’. 

Largely written in 2020 and 2021, the album expresses the newfound pace of life during the pandemic. In each song (or chapter) Ray moves through a perspective on solitude. From longing for love to feeling contempt with yourself, disoriented, and then empowered again. Ray’s honest lyrics paired with her vulnerable, yet sophisticated and bold voice guide us through an emotional dreamy space found somewhere between heartbreak and hope. “’Pairing Mode’ is like a collection of polaroid pictures. Or like a menu, composed of several delicate dishes” she explains, emphasizing that it is to be enjoyed with all our senses. Every track is “a moment that has been captured and is complete as it is.”

Ray and her co-producer Samon Kawamura (Max Herre, Joy Denalane, Megaloh) create a landmark in German-Asian culture. Their sound is following in the footsteps of the art and soul of Solange's ‘When I Get Home’ plus some quirkiness à la Tierra Whack - but always undoubtedly Ray Lozano. Her music offers a sense of home - direct, soothing, and playful. ‘Pairing Mode’ is accompanied by a strikingly gorgeous poetic film, produced by visual artist Parissa Charghi.

British-German jazz rap super group Syrup with ‘Hate To Ride Alone’, the second single from their forthcoming album ‘The Questions’ (02.06.23). Syrup are Twit One (beats), Turt of Summers Sons (rap) and C.Tappin (vocals & keys). Twit is from Cologne, Turt and Tap are from London. They share a friendship and musical partnership based on similar musical tastes and live values. Their first album Rosy Lee was released in 2020 on Melting Pot Music and is also available on LP.

Our idea of House Blends stems from the vibes on the west coast in the 90’s without technology just being out with your friends cruising, night vibes, good food and spending time with people you vibe with. ‘Driven’ is the second single off the upcoming LP ‘Palms’, the 5th studio album from London based instrumentalist and producer Andy Baxter. Inspired by early 70s noir thrillers, ‘Driven’ features a saxophone solo from Jim Piela, with added tremolo. Also featuring is long time collaborator Ken Long, contributing Wurlitzer keys with Baxter playing Drums, Guitar, Bass and Rhodes.

New Robohands LP ‘Palms’ is the fifth album from the London based instrumentalist and producer Andy Baxter. Moving towards different genres and arrangements from his previous albums, ‘Palms’ features duelling harp parts, tape echo, double bass and draws inspiration from artists such as Dorothy Ashby, Azimuth, Alice Coltrane and Toquinho.   In parts tropical and synth drenched, and in others stripped back and acoustic, ‘Palms’ is a journey back to saturated analog recordings of the late 60s and 70s, with a subtle modern layer of glitch FX and pitch control experimentation in places. The album makes also reference to classic releases from jazz fusion that feature the legendary Arp Odyssey synthesiser, used by artists such as Herbie Hancock and George Duke.  The seventeen track album features performances from multiple session musicians including Jim Piela on saxophone and Marco Cremaschini on Rhodes, with Baxter taking on drums, guitar, bass, keys and also mixing duties. ‘Palms’ is a new direction for his project and a record that thematically journeys into modern reinterpretations of jazz, downtempo, acoustic and ambient music.

‘Heaven Sent’ is the new single by upcoming South African producer L E F. For the third single from his forthcoming EP ‘Smooth Transition’ on Melting Pot Music, he teamed up with Greece-based producer Drips Zacheer.  

Born and raised in Johannesburg, L E F is bringing a new vibe to the Lofi scene. With ‘Smooth Transition’ – dropping on 25.08. – he is building on the sound of his previous album ‘Antidote’, released in 2022, bringing his melodic productions on another level.

Still Life is a beautiful EP that takes inspiration from the timeless art of still life paintings, where each track corresponds to a different element from the EPs cover's scene.

The opening track, "Black Tulips" sets a melancholic and surreal tone. The song creates an atmosphere where the listener is in a familiar room, but small, surreal details start to reveal themselves, such as black tulips on the coffee table. The image of black tulips serves as a symbol of something that is beautiful but also out of place.

The second track on this beautiful EP is called “Grandpas Camera”. It evokes a feeling of nostalgia through its wonky chords, pads, and bell melodies. The song is a tribute to the memories shared with my grandfather. The use of his old 70-year-old camera helps to preserve the memories and the connection to my grandfather, making it a personal and meaningful experience.

"Beeswax Candle" is the 3rd track and is a collaborative effort with the producer "kust". This song is a harmonious blend of rich and sweet sounds, featuring intricate guitar and chord work that beautifully complements the crisp and soothing drum groove. In the background, a subtle synth sound evokes the gentle hum of bees. The metaphor of the beeswax candle symbolizes the essence of honey and sweetness that mirrors the musical experience it provides.

The final track on the EP, "Teapot", serves as a fitting conclusion to this musical journey through the still life image. This tune exudes a warm and inviting aura that envelops the listener in a comforting atmosphere. The mild bass blends seamlessly with the chords, creating a cozy and comforting sound bed. The addition of foley sounds of an actual teapot creates a unique and immersive experience and brings the EP full circle by tying in the still life imagery that is central to its theme.
