Rising Alt-R&B singer KeepVibesNear aka KVN drops his second release of the year, ‘Late Night Link’ featuring Harvey Whyte and Luke RV.

Featuring some of the UK Hip-Hop scene's finest voices, ‘Late Night Link’ is part of a double-sided single and follows ‘Late Night Drive’ featuring long term collaborator rapper/producer Harvey Whyte and Brighton Grime/Garage duo Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn. ‘LNL’ sees KVN link up with up and coming Welsh rapper Luke RV and Harvey Gunn. 

Known for his unapologetic vulnerability, KVN showcases his range with the up-tempo single, bridging the gap between alternative Rap and R&B and demonstrating his ability to write personally yet playfully. Directed by Sebastian Luke-Virgo, the video follows the trio as they escape to the countryside with the autumnal brown trees, lakes and hilltops providing the perfect backdrop. Both sonically and visually the artist's cohesion is clear for all to see, with KVN’s gravelly tone and melodic chorus at the core. When speaking about the track KeepVibesNear stated:

“‘LNL’ is a song about that search for a ‘ride or die’ the joy of the chase and the back and forth. Anticipating colliding with a person and the excitement that comes with. If it’s meeting for the first time of many or just a late night link, haha. It’s a thrill everyone can relate to when you link someone you excited about. Something the mandem smile and tell their friends about.”

Raised in Romford with family ties in Nigeria, KVN is hoping his music can change the outdated narrative that men can’t show or feel the vast spectrum of emotions, good, bad and everything in between. In a time when toxic masculinity is still so rife, he intends to make space for men to express themselves, open up and be vulnerable. KeepVibesNear aka KVN collaborates with Brighton-based Hip-Hop/Garage heavy hitters, Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn on his first release of the year, ‘Late Night Drive’. First up in a double-sided single for KVN, the song showcases his seductive tone and soulful melodies and skillfully bottles up Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn’s experimental flow. “As soon as KVN played me the early stages of the song I knew that I wanted to be a part of it, it’s the perfect track to take the car out for a spin late at night” Frankie says. With Harvey Whyte and Harvey Gunn on production duties, ‘Late Night Drive’ is an ode to lovers and the hypnotic piano trails across speaker channels like lights on a highway. 

When speaking about the track KeepVibesNear said: “This song for me was a feeling, I think of this as a story like a tale. It’s one of those songs that stuck out as special as soon as I had the idea. Late-night drive with bae just hits the imagery perfectly really and I think when everyone hears this song it will just make you wanna go for a little cruise.”

Blessed with an unmistakable voice, and a natural talent for creating dark & emotive leftfield R&B, Romford-born, London-based artist KeepVibesNear has cut a singular shape in the capital’s musical underbelly. Playing an integral role in the much-heralded Silhouettes Project, as well as racking up collaborations with FloFilz, Ray Lozano, BERWYN & Coops - his dulcet tones have seen him gain support from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Worldwide FM, Trench, Notion and New Wave Mag. 

Returning with a matured, yet characteristically melancholic sound, his new single ‘Another Casualty’ tells a tale of lament and redemption, as a wintery guitar motif is joined by crisp drums and winsome saxophones. Shifting shadows and pitched down vocals add to the eerie atmosphere, whilst KVN’s vocals weave effortlessly throughout the track. 

On the track, KVN explains: “'Another Casualty' is a song about misused time. In relationships we have good times and bad. This song is about how we come back from the bad for someone we deeply care about. That reflection you look for inside to try and be better when it’s necessary. I see this song as a conversation with the feeling that comes from a certain type of solitude we only really feel in and out of love. This feeling really inspired me with the image of being lost at shore, another casualty of the sea and the drama of it all.”
