London based DJ and producer Chris Read has been a fixture here at BBE now for over five years, a period during which he has put his hand to no fewer than four BBE compilations, including his spectacular round-up of the label’s finest moments, BBE 15: Real Music For Real People and the critically acclaimed Latin Concrete (‘album of the week’ in UK broadsheet The Independent).
During that period Chris has applied his touch to numerous BBE mixtapes and remixes, collaborating with BBE artists DJ Spinna and YesKing among many others. 
The gloriously eclectic ‘All Night’ rounds up the best of his BBE remixes, placing them alongside productions and remixes for a stellar catalogue of guest vocalists and labels.
Two Grammy award winners feature, Bilal and Algebra Blessett, Bilal having previously collaborated with heavyweights J-Dilla, Dr. Dre and Rob-ert Glasper, while Atlanta-native Blessett has impressed as one of the most innovative performers in R&B. Also on hand are DC hip-hop man of the moment  Oddisee, Tokyo Dawn-signing Pugs Atomz, Wah Wah 45s’  Bev Lee Harling, Mozambiquan hip-hop renaissance men Simba & Milton Gulli, long time collaborator and Tru-Thoughts vocalist Lizzy Parks and the mighty horns of the Renegade Brass Band.
Of the 14 tracks featured, nine are exclusive to this compilation or previ-ously unreleased. Notably, this album is the first to showcase material from Maylight, a BBC New Music Award winning seven-piece fusing soul, jazz and electronics, Chris having produced the band’s debut LP Al-mighty (due for release on BBE later in 2015). 
Other high points include a taster of material from Chris’s forthcoming full length collab with Chicago born Pugs Atomz and brand new instrumental material including ‘Stop Playing (With My Soul)’, a track constructed entirely from samples mined from the catalogue of library-music giant Boosey & Hawkes.

This Friday, Nov. 25, marks the release of Letherette's new LP, Last Night On The Planet, and today they're dropping its latest single (following "Rich And Dan") entitled "Momma". Featuring the immediately recognisable bars of Irish rapper Rejjie Snow, "Momma" is exactly what you'd hope to hear from a Rejjie Snow collab. Letherette weaves some hypnotic and wintry rap electronics that seem tailor-made for Rejjie Snow's flow. "It's up there with the fastest tracks I've ever written," says Andy (Letherette). "I made it the day before I was in the studio with Rejjie and knew he'd like it." Fans of either artists' off-kilter output will want to hear this.

Syrup is a new group from London and Cologne. The group consists of
producer Twit One, pianist & singer C.Tappin and rapper Turt (Summers Sons).
Their style of music is called Cool Bap.

A follow-up to “Burnt Out” and “The Recipe”, “Politickin” is Syrup’s third single
and Turt is tearing politicians to pieces:

On the news mad poison in that voice
All they sell is fear that’s a bad choice
Bag of lies making shit dramatic
All a front act diplomatic
Switch the candidate the pricks are plastic
Cause the problem really systematic
You can block our sight but never stop our vision
Can’t trust these politicians
It seems that honesty is missing
The people they will stop listening

Twit, Turt and Tappin first met at a club in Bristol some years ago, where Twit
played a DJ gig. They quickly became friends and have been working on music
together ever since. In 2017 Twit brought Turt and Tappin over to Cologne to
perform at the legendary Radio Love Love boat party. In the same year
Summers Sons released “Undertones”, their first EP for Melting Pot Music,
followed by “Uhuru” (2018) and “The Rain” (2019) and C.Tappin's debut EP
“Ashes To Ashes” (2019).

Technically, Syrup are a hip-hop group with unmistakable leanings towards soul and jazz. 
The group consists of an MC (Turt), a pianist/singer (C.Tappin) and a beatmaker (Twit One). Their music is rooted in the tradition of collectives like Native Tongues and Soulquarians, and they have come up with a pretty appropriate term to describe their sound, which is “cool bap”.

But if we put formalities aside and look at the bigger picture, Syrup are also a perfect example of how music can connect people beyond national borders, language and tradition. And furthermore, how Afro-American culture has influenced not only the musical taste but the views and opinion-making of generations of young people worldwide. The sheer existence of Syrup is also a big fat “Fuck Brexit!” which makes the group even more likeable.

“Rosy Lee” is available on LP as standard edition and limited colored vinyl edition (300 copies).

“Fruits” by Louis The Hippie and produced by Tolushorts, is the final single from The Silhouettes Project. 

The Silhouettes Project is a new platform for up and coming Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz artists from the UK. It is not a record label or management team, it is a community project. The Silhouettes Project provides an open space - a recording studio and live venue located within the Total Refreshment Centre in Hackney, London - where MCs, singers, musicians and producers can connect and create.

The Silhouttes Project was founded by community organisers/artists Asher Korner (aka Kosher) and Jaden Osei-Bonsu (Eerf Evil) in 2019. When they told us about the project and played us some of the music we were instantly hooked and joined the collective as label partner. The art direction is executed by Sergio „SagaUno“ Alférez, an acclaimed designer and illustrator from Medellín, Colombia.

Starting in September, we release a new single each Thursday from artists like Kofi Stone, Summers Sons, Enny, KeepVibesNear, Manik MC, Lex Amor, Louis The Hippie, Summer-Pearl, Joe Beard and many more.

All 15 singles are also available on one LP and as digital album on 11th December.
