The Pillars of the prayer are fourteen.

The main point covered in this lesson:
The Third Pillar: Reciting Surah Al-Fātihah

– The Third Pillar: Reciting Surah Al-Fātihah.
– When the Surah Al-Fātihah should be recited.
– Is it obligatory to recite Surah Al-Fātihah in all units of prayer when praying alone (munfarid) and likewise when following the Imam (ma’mūm).
– The difference of opinion of scholars regarding the ma’mūm (those being led in the prayer) in the loud prayers (Fajr, Maghrib and Isha).
– The reward for praying in congregation in the three sacred mosques.
– The meaning of Al-Fātihah.
– The great virtue and station of Surah Al-Fātihah.
– Having the ability to recite Surah Al-Fātihah.
– An example of an exception when Surah Al-Fātihah has not been recited but the prayer is still correct. 
– The evidence regarding the Imam’s recitation is sufficient for the ma’mūn and what this means.
– Examples from scholars opinions regarding the differing of reciting Surah Al-Fātihah.
– The istiādha - الاستعاذة Seeking refuge from the shaitan before reciting.

– A question regarding reciting Surah Al-Fātihah if a person joins the prayer while the imam is in rukoo, while holding it an obligation that the Fātihah must be recited.
– A question: Does the ma’mūm, recite a Surah after the Fātihah in the quiet prayer.
