The following were the questions posed to Shaykh Sālim Bāmiḥriz on Monday 21st September, 2015:  

Q1.We live in a small island and there are two masjids, one is Deobandi/Tablīghī and the other is our Salafi masjid. There are only a few families in our Salafi masjid and some of the women and children are saddened by the small festivities that we have due to small numbers. Our Shaykh, what advice can you offer us in remaining steadfast in our isolation and what should we do with our families to make it more enjoyable for them?

Q2. We live in a non-Muslim country; is it permissible to decorate the masjid and our houses with decorations and lights for ‘Eid and can we exchange gifts, even if the kuffār do these things on their days as well in this country?

Q3. If a person has a day of fasting from the month of Ramaḍān to make up, can they fast on the day of ‘Arafah with the two intentions? And would they have the reward of expiations for the past and coming year?

Q4. As it pertains to the shaving of the hair and cutting of the nails, if there is an instant where there is an outgrowing nail on one of the toes which is small but it gets caught in socks and causes a bit of discomfort; if this nail is removed by pulling it off does this action nullify anything as it relates to sacrificing and the ‘Eid?

Q5. Is there a niṣāb for uḍḥiyyah as there is for zakāh or is it just one uḍḥiyyah per house? A lot of so-called charity organisations state that if you have savings of 612g of silver or 87g of gold then you must offer a sacrifice. Can you clear this matter for us?

Q6. If one has two wives does he have to slaughter two animals?

Q7. What is the ruling on using Muslim charities to do sacrifice? For example, a charity might say a sheep costs £150 in Syria. Is this allowed? If not, what is the Sunnah?

Q8. I heard that it was from the Sunnah to not eat anything from Fajr on the Day of ‘Eid until after the ‘Eid prayer. Is this for those who are slaughtering or is it general?

Q9.  What is the ruling for a husband who wishes to send money to starving relatives in Cambodia for them to butcher the sacrifice and eat it for each child he has (i.e. for the ‘Aqīqah) and for ‘Eid al-Aḍḥā?

Q10. Does Allāh punish a wife if her husband does not do sacrifices for the birth of his children and for ‘Eid al-Aḍḥā after she has reminded and requested him to do so and he refused?

Q11. Can a wife secretly pay for the sacrifice and have the meat distributed to her neighbours on her family’s behalf without her husband’s knowledge?

29.11.2015 - In these deranged times, due to there being much discussion about the Sharī’ah of Islām by those who are not qualified to engage in such discussions, there has been widespread misinformation and misunderstanding regarding this matter. As such, Shaykh Bandar al-Khaybarī (ḥafiẓahullāh) explained the objectives of the Sharī’ah as comes in the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger (ṣallAllāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), upon the understanding of the Salaf aṣ-Ṣāliḥ. 07.01.2016 - On Thursday 7th January, our Shaykh Dr. 'Arafaat Muhammady delivered a wonderfully comprehensive tele-link lecture to the brothers at MPUBS annihilating the false principle propagated by the extremists in Jihad and and takfeer of haakimiyyah. This is a must listen for every Sunni. The Shaykh promised to do a follow up to elaborate some more in shaa Allah.

On Friday 5th February 2016, our Noble Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jābirī (ḥafiẓahullāh) delivered a beautiful admonition to the brothers at Muwahhideen Publications as part of our 8th Annual Islāmic Conference entitled “Traversing The Path of The Salaf aṣ-Ṣāliḥ”. Our Shaykh spoke on the topic “Islām is The Sunnah and The Sunnah is Islām”, wherein he beseeched us to hold fast to the pure, unadulterated Islām and he vehemently warned us against inclining to and following the deviant paths, particularly that of the Khawārij and Rāfiḍah. He also implored the Muslims living in the lands of the non-Muslims to openly display the beautiful characteristics of Islām and to honour and uphold their covenants and agreements and not be treacherous, as this is from the traits of the Khawārij. May Allāh preserve our Shaykh upon the Sunnah and reward him for this highly beneficial reminder.

[17/10/2016] The Remedy To Feeling Low & Weak In Your Faith (Īmān) - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

- A principle with Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the increase and decrease of īmān.

- The reality that none of us are exempt from our īmān decreasing. 

- Reasons for a decrease in īmān. 

- 1. Turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The consequences of turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- 2. Sins

- “…And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.” [Sūrah al-Ahzāb 33:36]

- Picking up each other when we are down, and using the scales of Ar-Rahmān to solve our problems.

- Ibn al-Mubārak (رحمه الله) on the grave consequences of sins. 

- 3. Abandoning the truth.

- “…then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:38]

- The condition for sadness, grief and fear to be removed from us. 

- Truthfully taking account of ourselves.

- What is making us fall short regarding the rights of our Lord?

- The vicious cycle of falling short and decreasing in īmān. 

- Diagnosing our problems in order to solve them. 

- 4. Companionship

- The harm of using your own intellect and scales to judge your companion.

- The true companion.

- The regret on the Day of Judgment for the one who chose the wrong companions.

- The best of the people.

- The sign that we need to change our companions.

- 5. Trials

- A warning against forsaking the dīn and using trials as an excuse to be distant from Allāh.

- Following the example of the Prophets (عليهم السلام) and Salaf (رحمهم الله) in drawing closer to Allāh by way of trials. 

- 6. Giving importance to the dunyā over the ākhirah.

- Hasan al-Basrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “…So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Fātir 35:5]

- How we should reflect when we hear/recite verses of the Qur’ān. 

- Caution against exchanging something that is worthless and will come to an end for something that is everlasting. 

-  Warnings from the Messenger ﷺ regarding the dunyā.

- A golden statement from the Salaf describing this dunyā and how we should navigate it.

- Yahyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the intoxication of this dunyā. 

- The remedy for weak īmān. 

- The heart and soul’s need for sustenance in order to survive. 

- The only thing that gives life to the heart and soul.

- A hadīth regarding the reality of the dunyā and the importance of the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The only thing in this world that is not cursed.

- Al-A’raj (رحمه الله) on what causes a blessing to turn into a calamity. 

- The critical role of knowledge in remedying weak īmān, sadness, anxiety and stress. 

- The wretched soul.

- Equipping ourselves for the battle against Shaytān and his relentless efforts to destroy us. 

- Resolving to analyse and rectify ourselves.
