Question & Answer Session with Ash Shaykh Abū Anwār Sālim Ibn 'Abdallāh Bāmhriz حفظه الله تعالى:

Q1. In our area, we are surrounded by the people of innovation and we wish for them to be guided to the correct way. In what way should we co-operate with them? Should we be silent about their innovation in order to the preserve the brotherhood, May Allāh preserve you?

Q2. What is the ruling on the woman colouring or cutting their hair?

Q3. What are some of the characteristics of the Hizbī? 

Q4. Is it permissible to seek knowledge from one who has not taken knowledge from the scholars, rather has taken it (i.e knowledge) from the books? 

Q5. What should a sister do if her husband defends ISIS and their likes? 

Q6. What are the rights that the father has over his children and the rights the children have over the father?

Q7. Is their a punishment for the one who has learnt the Qurān and has forgotten it. If so, what is it?

Q8. We have opened a masjid and all praise is due to Allāh, upon the Qurān and Sunnah. Yet we have some people who attend Jumu'ah prayers and classes (at the masjid) who may be Sufī or the likes from the people of innovation. How do we receive these people? Should they be forbidden from attending the masjid? What is the manner of dealing with them? 

Q9. As it relates to isbāl, is this particular to the prayer or at all times? Some of the people use the narration of Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه as an evidence  regarding this affair.

Q10. Should woman who are not covered properly be forbidden from entering the masjid? Should disbelievers enter the masjid? What are the guidelines? 

Q11. How should we deal with a family member/relative who has extreme anger and possibly becomes crazy at times of anger? 

Q12. We live in an area where there are many homosexuals, sometimes these people may be interested in Islām. How can a person give Islām to a people like this when they're disgusted by their apparent behaviour? 

Q13. Some of the people that support ISIS say that everything that is heard in the media (regarding ISIS and their likes) are lies and that the Muslims living under the 'state' are in goodness etc. What is the response to this?

[17/10/2016] The Remedy To Feeling Low & Weak In Your Faith (Īmān) - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

- A principle with Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the increase and decrease of īmān.

- The reality that none of us are exempt from our īmān decreasing. 

- Reasons for a decrease in īmān. 

- 1. Turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The consequences of turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- 2. Sins

- “…And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.” [Sūrah al-Ahzāb 33:36]

- Picking up each other when we are down, and using the scales of Ar-Rahmān to solve our problems.

- Ibn al-Mubārak (رحمه الله) on the grave consequences of sins. 

- 3. Abandoning the truth.

- “…then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:38]

- The condition for sadness, grief and fear to be removed from us. 

- Truthfully taking account of ourselves.

- What is making us fall short regarding the rights of our Lord?

- The vicious cycle of falling short and decreasing in īmān. 

- Diagnosing our problems in order to solve them. 

- 4. Companionship

- The harm of using your own intellect and scales to judge your companion.

- The true companion.

- The regret on the Day of Judgment for the one who chose the wrong companions.

- The best of the people.

- The sign that we need to change our companions.

- 5. Trials

- A warning against forsaking the dīn and using trials as an excuse to be distant from Allāh.

- Following the example of the Prophets (عليهم السلام) and Salaf (رحمهم الله) in drawing closer to Allāh by way of trials. 

- 6. Giving importance to the dunyā over the ākhirah.

- Hasan al-Basrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “…So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Fātir 35:5]

- How we should reflect when we hear/recite verses of the Qur’ān. 

- Caution against exchanging something that is worthless and will come to an end for something that is everlasting. 

-  Warnings from the Messenger ﷺ regarding the dunyā.

- A golden statement from the Salaf describing this dunyā and how we should navigate it.

- Yahyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the intoxication of this dunyā. 

- The remedy for weak īmān. 

- The heart and soul’s need for sustenance in order to survive. 

- The only thing that gives life to the heart and soul.

- A hadīth regarding the reality of the dunyā and the importance of the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The only thing in this world that is not cursed.

- Al-A’raj (رحمه الله) on what causes a blessing to turn into a calamity. 

- The critical role of knowledge in remedying weak īmān, sadness, anxiety and stress. 

- The wretched soul.

- Equipping ourselves for the battle against Shaytān and his relentless efforts to destroy us. 

- Resolving to analyse and rectify ourselves.
