Bergsteign (mountaineering)

mr.coon, with real name Gerhard Martini, was born in 1972 in Bolzano, South Tyrol. After growing up in Terlan, he attended the Academy of Painting in Florence, but found his true passion in music. After releasing his first music projects through TV and radio spots, Gerhard suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident just two weeks after his first live performance in 1998. Despite strong medication, he fought his way back to life and decided to pursue a career in music using his technical skills. In 2004, he produced his first album "Die Träumer" in collaboration with Martin Troger. In 2010, he received a scholarship to the Music and Media Academy Hamburg and graduated as a music designer. Today, Gerhard strives to live solely from his music and creative projects in collaboration with other artists, various agencies, or the visual arts.

mr.coon presented himself at the live audition in 2022 with a DJ set of his own production. His sound is truly interesting and original, and the sought-after sounds, combined with the vocals, create unique atmospheres. He employs percussive elements brilliantly, but I would have opted for slightly more forceful rhythms and a slightly higher BPM, without of course distorting his own sound. This already mature artist certainly has much more to say, and I recommend him to continue believing in himself, but also to break out of his own musical patterns to allow external influences, presenting a product that is audible to many, especially when participating in a competition of this nature. I don't mean that you should "commercialize" yourself, but depending on the occasion, you should have more catchy qualities. That said, his passion is what stands out first and foremost. His desire to continue making music despite the unexpected events that life throws at us is truly exemplary. Don't be afraid to express yourself, and don't be afraid of your own abilities.
