SouloCutz, an American multi-talented artist formerly known as The Illa Bandit, grew up in South Carolina. He started his rap concentration in 1995 after experimenting with poems and instrumentals. In 1998, he affiliated himself with a former rap group at his high school called Tha RIP Klique. After graduating in 1999, the group split up. He then matriculated into Benedict College where he began his studies in Mass Communications and performed in 2 talent shows receiving great appeal. He, along with his crew at the time, Tha Ill Squad were featured in The Source Magazine (March 2000) on page 232 with Ghostface Killa and The Rza on the cover. He changed his name from Illa Bandit to SouloCutz for portmanteau reasons that same year when he relocated to NYC where he continued his concentration. He created the record label Holjafiya Entertainment in 2006 which was originally his idea since 1995. He also began producing his own tracks as well as others that year. His influences range from most of the popular rappers from the 90s like Nas, Wu-Tang, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, DMX, Jay-Z, Twista, Common, Rass Kass, Busta Rhymes, Eminem and a very few in the 2000s like T.I. and Fabolous.
