Morpheus Radio – Low808

The next episode of the residency comes from Baltimore-based musician PJ Dorsey, also known as Tarotplane on his solo project. 

Dorsey's path walks across a wide range of music influences that have made him built his very own sonic viewpoint. His albums blend everything we love about guitar sounds with electronic experimentation, sometimes with a more traditional psychedelic rock approach, in way of creating timeless and captivating musical excursions. 

The inspiration for his mix came from one of the last places he visited before covid hit in early 2020.

'Its a photo of the interior of the Glenstone Museum, outside of Washington DC. It looks like a piece from James Turrell but im not sure it actually is.
Looking at the sculpture, you can see the sky outside. Sort of a portal into another world. Looking at this photo now, its meaning for me is about coming out of the darkness of that Covid time represented into a time of hope. Im not sure we are completely out of the cave but hopefully heading in that direction. This mix is the sound of my melancholy. A bittersweet beauty. Sad, but optimistic. Much has been lost but i hope more will be gained.' - PJ Dorsey

Gardeners, whether for practical purposes of scaring away birds or in bursts of inspiration akin to communal art, put into use CD-Rs, long-forgotten by their children, and hang them on the vegetable plots, hardly suspecting the musical gems these discs contain. We found one of these CD-Rs in a garden in Avdotino. There are the words written on it in blue: «For the car. 03.06.2002»

"Childhood Wonder" is a piece that holds a special place in my heart, capturing the essence of curiosity and innocence experienced during our early years. It is a musical journey that seeks to evoke the joy and awe we often associate with childhood.

Childhood is a wondrous time, filled with curiosity, innocence, and boundless imagination. It is a period when the world seems to hold endless possibilities, where every experience is filled with awe and wonder!

Immersed in a world of make-believe, as a child I transformed ordinary objects into fantastical creatures and created elaborate stories in my mind. With a simple blanket and sheets I created a secret hideout on the roof of our home, and a cardboard box became my spaceship soaring through the stars. Imagination was my superpower, allowing me to transform my complicated family life into the extraordinary.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share this composition with all of you. I hope that when you listen to "Childhood Wonder," it transports you  to a place of joy and ignites your imagination.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and supporters who have encouraged and inspired me on this artistic journey. 

Let's embrace the wonder of childhood together through the power of music.

A nine-story panel building, four entrances, a hundred something apartments. Perhaps, every morning, you pass by this building on your way to the subway station, or its gray walls were visible from the window of a room in which you have not been for so long, and perhaps will never be again.

In the tenth apartment on the third floor, six-year-old Vitalik wakes up. He breathes heavily. This horrible dream again about a huge red excavator trying to bury him. The old refrigerator hums in the kitchen. On the walls there are shadows of a tall birch standing in the front garden. In the next room, the TV is barely audible – Mom drank cognac again and fell asleep during the evening news. Vitalik wraps himself in a heavy blanket with a tiger pattern. In his little curly head, an unknown melody starts playing, and suddenly, it becomes somehow calmer and happier. Later, in the future, he will turn on the the Bevissthet mix for 5/8: radio, he will unmistakably recognize it, and on a particular evening, he will also become a bit calmer and happier.
