With a large number of presentations of his music in Canada, USA, Europe, and elsewhere every year, he continuously composes and delivers a stream of commissions performed by an international list of soloists, ensembles and several recording projects.  
Mel is a Master degree holder in music and B.A in Ethnomusicology, as well as a graduate from University of Granada, Spain majoring in translation and interpretation utilizing Spanish-English-French-Arabic languages group.
Mel M’rabet, based in Ottawa, Ontario is the recipient of several awards and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, the City of Ottawa, and a genie award winner for Khaled's film soundtrack in 2002. 
M’rabet is one of the most significant Arab descend musicians, performers, and composers of his generation. His work incorporates and reflects a legacy of Arabic music, while it forges ahead to new frontiers, embracing many different styles in the process. This is a unique contribution to the world of arts and to our diverse society. He accompanied many high caliber musicians Canadian, American, Arabic, Turkish, Greek and Persian musicians, including Paco De Lucia, Cesaria Evora, Salif Keita, Simon Shaheen, Omar Sosa, Steve Potts, Dr. Ali Jihad Racy, Ishmael Alan Mills, Richard Hagopian, and many others. 
Member of Al Tarab ensemble based in Canada, US and Spain and founder of three diverse groups, focusing on three cultural backgrounds which once lived in harmony in the Spanish peninsula. Performed with Shankar Ghosh, Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Zakir Hussain, Ali Akbar Khan, Cesaria Evora, Steve Lacey, Steve Potts, François Theberge and advanced disciple of Necati Celik; He has Performed with the group Under the Sun, a Yugoslavian Jazz, and Mediterranean Tango group.
Mel M’rabet has worked, and collaborated with various communities, promoting the multicultural artistic aspect that Ontario and Canada in general have to offer. He is a constant advocate of community outreach through arts presentations, and has contributed to the Ontarian and Canadian culture in both official languages with a dozen works as a soloist, and many others with groups.
