Across the river Mersey, a broadcast beams out of Transmission Towers. Signalling the arrival of a new transcendent machine soul duo and their forthcoming debut album Transmission One, the grooves of ‘Roller Skater 23’ reverberate into the atmosphere. Laced up, strapped in, this is a cosmic cruiser to soundtrack your ride on the interstellar airwaves.

Transmission Towers, operated by Mark Kyriacou and Eleanor Mante, brings together two artists who collaborated over 10 years ago and stayed friends ever since. This new project, which also marks the first release on Luke Una’s new É Soul Cultura label, orbits a synthesised world won over by soul. Giving a first taste of what’s to come on their forthcoming album, the lead single is an outer planetary excursion taking in off-kilter E soul, tripped-out astral punk and sonic Afrofuturism.

Un-licensable! This is the start of a playlist of tracks, that we tried to license - sometimes like this one for 10 years already - and just cant get to the finish line. Often the rights have been sold too many times as part of rights package deals, sometimes the right owning company just doesn't give a shit.... You Never know.
As we only release fully licensed tracks in our Too Slow To Disco compilation series, we sometimes just have to pass on certain magic music moments, which breaks my heart! 

Bill House's  "You're No Better Than A Common Thief" was already on the list of tracks we tried to license in 2013 for TOO SLOW TO DISCO Volume 1! . Together with Ned Doheny's "Get It Up For Love" this was one of the songs so strong, that we decided to risk the Too Slow To Disco compilation series.
He only released two albums in his life, this track is from his debut album "Give Me A Break", produced by legendary producer Terry Melcher (The Byrds) and Beach Boy Bruce Johnston. To us (and many other Westcoast fans) this is one of the most iconic AOR/Yacht/Westcoast tracks ever released. 
RCA records released the track in 1974. The company is now owned by SONY, but they just cant find the paper works or mastertapes (or anything) for the track. If the label request doesn't work, we often try to chase down the musicians themselves, and ask them for permission (which worked in many cases) , but even that proved as a dead end.  He is nowhere to be found.
So we just can't rerelease it. What a pity.
