'Massaging The Ego' is a fusion track inspired by the thought of self conceit, which of course is the "ego". So when most of us do or achieve something that pleases us, this is us 'Massaging The Ego'. I'm not sure if I am totally blown away by this present work, but my ego seems to be happy enough. So massaging accomplished, here is the track.

Started off resynthesizing a short field recording of crickets, birds and distant highway traffic motorbikes 
All parts generated in Metasynth- image synth and effects rooms- basic mixing in Logic.

This track was created with the intention of granting incite to parents and other family members, teachers, and the public at large to the possible inner workings into the minds of children and adults who may not think, experience, or thrive in life in the same learning and/or social constructs, contexts, etc. Some have vastly differently inner workings of the brain and mind, than what we've been trained to view as "normal" or "acceptable." It's time to stop insisting everyone fit into our boxes, of needing to be "social butterflies," demanding/forcing them into social constructs that do not enhance their lives; but, may perhaps "sound retreat" and makes them withdraw. "Withdraw..." because, the construct of the inner workings of these potentially "genius ones" allows some to feel the most "free" and empowered when they are permitted to live in the silent living spaces that "grant access" for them to connect with the recesses of the mind where productive deeper intellectual thoughts that truly "feel like home" for them... reside. If they "feel safe" among you and they become extroverted with you because they trust your energy... feel BLESSED; but, if they don't and aren't talkative, don't want to participate in social constructs... but, find true happiness from the quiet reflective and learning spaces... "Let It Be!" Please!!!  

Again, we caution listeners to not drive or operate machinery while listening to our music done in a HZ unlike what most radio stations play... and to listen through headphones at a lower volume than you normally listen to most of your music, for optimum effect. Enjoy!

The Gertrude Jekyll garden, near to Lindisfarne Castle is the focus of this track. Now owned by the National Trust, originally it was a walled garden that was first constructed by troops manning the castle, presumably as far back as the 1500s or 1600s, to grow food.

In 1902, the Country Life magazine founder and owner Edward Hudson took out a lease from the Crown on Lindisfarne Castle and commissioned his friend, the architect Edwin Lutyens, to transform the Castle into a holiday home in which Hudson could entertain during his summer visits.

In 1911, Hudson decided to restore the old walled garden to use as a place to enjoy. Lutyens brought in his regular collaborator, Gertrude Jekyll to undertake the design work

This track is now part of "The Pilgrims Way Project" exploring the history and natural world of Lindisfarne.

Background

In my head I had the idea of trying to capture the feeling of guests of Hudson, (or modern day visitors) walking around the garden on a late Summer afternoon, possibly stopping to listen to the bees, busy at work, collecting honey. 

The poem came out of that thought which then inspired the musical direction of the piece.

I imagined the first part, idyllic, tranquil, moving to section where you just focus in on the bees and everyday life slips away for a while. This is followed by a grander 'promenade ending', where I imagined Hudson's guests strolling around in the late afternoon sun.
