The Adventures of Vector Owl - Halloween Short

A 26 second piece of music to support an upcoming  Halloween themed Vector Owl short animation. If you can, compare this short with the original theme tune to hear how it's been tweaked to give what I think is a spooky vibe.

Vector Owl is a cheeky magical owl who gets up to various antics in the forest he calls home. Quite often, he just wants to have a quiet snooze but pesky creatures keep disturbing him.

Thankfully, with his understanding of the power of vector magic, he can conjure up solutions to these annoyances and get back to having a well earned rest.

Background

This project began with a 10 second piece of music and a very simple 2D animation of a little character called Vector Owl.

The music was expanded into a full theme tune, a brand new redesigned Vector Owl emerged and a change of animation software resulted in what you see here. Whilst familiar with creating music, animation is a completely new world to me and I'm still learning as I go.

All the graphic elements are vector-based, using a combination of Serif Affinity software for graphical development and various open-source packages for animation and video editing, with the original music created in Cubase Pro.

The idea of a Halloween Short for Vector Owl seemed a great opportunity to play around in adapting the original theme tune to a spooky setting.  I used the same instruments, slowed down the tempo and went from major to minor. The addition of some choral elements was enough for this short piece of music.

When completed, the Halloween short link will be posted here, but for now it can be enjoyed purely as a very short piece of orchestral incidental music. :-)

Vector Owl - Halloween Short

A collection of songs, instrumentals and orchestral pieces charting my adventures in home studio recording and production.  All original compositions using voice, acoustic and electric guitar (sometimes using altered tunings), bouzouki, low and high whistles and MIDI instrumentation. 

I'm also using VST instrumentation to create classical compositions and integrating orchestral sounds into my songs and instrumentals.

Ever since I was a little kid, I've enjoyed playing and creating songs, and now I share my songs here in odd chance that someone else might enjoy them too. My influences are many, but I tend to gravitate towards progressive rock and metal and the epic and symphonic.

For my music, I do composition, arrangement, vocals and all instruments (except drums, those are programmed) and the mixing myself in my little home studio.

Creating/playing/composing/arranging music has been my passion since I was born ;-) I love singing (in harmonies as well), play a bit on the guitar, drum a little and play some keys. I've been active in the local (dutch) pop/rock cover scene in bands as a lead singer and rhythm-guitar player. Now I record my work (and covers) on my attic studio at home.

I'd appreciate when you let me know what you think/feel when listening to my tracks. Your feedback can help me to improve; and that, hopefully will please you as music lovers! Of course, I especially love to hear what you 'liked' about my songs, because that gives me pointers about what 'works' for you and helps me to move forward in the development of my own style ;-) .
