The thing is, you can not just expect to walk in
somewhere and talk other people into being like
you. It is just not the way it works.

When I arrived on my very first mission
I thought about that adage ‘bout teachin’ men fishin’
I carried my books and my sermons in my hand
To guide a few souls in a faraway land

But they opened their tables, they opened their doors
They showed me a grace that I’d been searching for
I went there to teach, but I then I learned instead
How to soften my heart and just let myself be led

I spoke of the future, of progress and gain
But they spoke of patience, and letting go of pain
I showed them all my lessons, then they sang me their songs
And I found what I hadn’t wanted, but needed all along

Life is about sharing view points and taking everybody’s
point of view seriously. With out that, we have chaos.

You see, I went there to give, but I learned how to receive
And to find my own healing in what those folks believe

Sometimes the teacher is really the student
And sometimes the wise are the ones called imprudent

Sometimes you find love in the place that let you go

If you expect people to find their answers only in the
places that you have looked, then you do not have your
eyes open.

If you do not have your eyes open, you are not ready to 
learn, and if you are not ready to learn you are not ready
to teach. You can not just expect to walk in
somewhere and talk other people into being like you. It is
