Akira Yamaoka nacido el 6 de febrero de 1968 en Niigata, Japón) ha compuesto música para varios videojuegos de Konami. Yamaoka estudió en el Tokyo Art College la carrera de diseño de producto e interior. Después de haber sido un compositor autónomo, se unió a Konami el 23 de septiembre de 1993.

Es más conocido por su trabajo en la serie de videojuegos de Silent Hill, en la cual ha compuesto toda la banda sonora, al igual que los efectos de sonido de los mismos (excluyendo Silent Hill: Play Novel para GBA y "Esperandote" de Silent Hill, compuesta por Rika Muranaka). Muchos de su trabajos en los títulos de la saga han sido compilados para la película "Terror en Silent Hill". Desde Silent Hill 3 ha jugado un papel importante como productor de la saga, sin embargo tambien se encarga de la musica de los mismos.

Yamaoka cito entre sus influencias a Angelo Badalamenti (mejor conocido por su trabajo en una banda sonora con David Lynch), Metallica, y Depeche Mode. 

Cuando le preguntaron sobre si sus estudios en el Tokyo Art College lo ayudaron en su carrera musical, el contestó: 

"En este momento, Mick Karn de Japan, Steve Strange de Visage, y muchos otros musicos combinan las nociones de arte y musica con su propio nuevo estilo. Yo fui influenciado por ello. Desde entonces, cada vez que escribo canciones, trato de combinar arte y musica." 

Asi pues este SoundTrack fue hecho para el, gracias a su influencia y a la historia de Silent Hill muchos gamers hallaron una saga exitosa llena de terror, aventura y sobre todo venganza haha!!!

Sublime new album from the drone / dark ambient legend. As a project commissioned for Cold Spring, "Stealth" presents itself as an exploration of sounds neither here nor there, textures camouflaged against their own background noise, and the distant crackling telemetric code-speak of a vague humanity hidden behind a cloak of deadly high-technology. Comprising of five deeply-layered extended tracks, mixed and edited from re-sampled location recordings originally captured inside the hanger environs of a Northrop-Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber, during a period of downtime maintenance at a U.S. Air Force base in Cambridgeshire, England. Original field recordings and texture preparations by FOURM / Si_Comm. First edition pressing of 1000 copies includes bonus disc comprised of this *pre-mix* material in its original, un-edited form, as a representation of the source audio from which "Stealth" was reconstituted. Deep listening inspired by one of the most mysterious aircraft of the twentieth-century. Headphones recommended.
