Dynamic duo, Paul Deetman and Jelle Jansen are one of 2014's greatest finds. Through their Huminal production assignation, the Dutch pair has risen effortlessly to the upper echelons of the underground dance scene with a cutting edge sound that is as graceful as it is masterful, now visualised through their "Pocket Universe".

Clearly influence by the melodic techno sounds of Stephan Bodzin, Marc Romboy and Trenmoller, Huminal have been able to transcend the boundaries laid by such industry legends and extend their sound into a unique and colourful new milieu. 

Destined for greatness from an early age, the two school friends quickly gained recognition with their DJ prowess, first by winning contests on Dutch national radio, followed by invitations to perform at techno festivals in the Amsterdam capital. Championed by the late Dutch legend, Roy Avni, Huminal were mentored through the pitfalls of the electronic dance scene and afforded the opportunity to hold a residency at Avni's "Electronation" before going on to perform at Paradiso, Sugar Factory and Club AIR.

As their production work began to gain momentum, Huminal's credibility would be raised further still through victory at 2011's iconic Amsterdam Dance Event and the "Demolition" contest with their track, "Greeksomnia". From a judging panel comprising Paul Hamill, Renaat Vendepapeliere and Marc Romboy, the duo triumphed in emphatic fashion. 

"Greeksomnia" saw a subsequent release alongside a trio of other works on the impressive FutureForm imprint before a clutch of releases hit Particles in the second half of 2014. August's "Acrophobia" EP provided a moment of consummate skill in three high-calibre works before a remix of Lank's "Parameters" illustrated the Paul and Jelle's remix talents. Now returning to Particles after a recent remix for Mango Alley, Huminal take their twin-track "Pocket Universe" to an expectant audience.

Opening track, "Horizontal Memories", skips along with an elegant, bouncing groove full of percussive subtlety and melodic complexity to create a work of unadulterated bliss. Evolving gradually, beats strengthen and release filters open to provide subconscious rise and fall. Further melodic layers then add to an already impressive piece.

The title track itself is a darker affair. A razor-edged bass line filters and modulates its way across a seven-minute work that pulsates in fizzing energy creating an urgency that must be heard to be believed. Building in intensity in the second half, a huge combination of beats, bass and soft arpeggio pulse and throb in glorious unity.

A work of otherworldly majesty, Huminal certainly hold the world in their hands with their "Pocket Universe".

Tiptoes reworks some low slung jazz funk business into a midtempo roller, perfect for that lazy walk to the bar while you top up your margarita or daiquiri, stopping off for a chat with some sexy looking ladies / gents on the way.... Illyus & Barrientos takes us firmly through to late night action on "Bare Fruits" - instantly transporting us to some Iberian sweatbox where the party never stops; and "You Says" which takes us through back into the sunrise and into the next day of holiday partying. Despite us being in the depths of summer, the weather is rubbish. Hooray then, for a sunny new Midnight Riot release. Here Jack Tennis, cough, serves up a re-work of a particularly sunny Italo disco jam, "Money". He aces it too with shimmering 80s tropical synth melodies, claps galore and the genre's always endearing slightly dodgy vocals. Elsewhere the vibes are more 'authentic' with "La Funk" being a monster of thumping, rubber-bass boogie and sexy female vocals, and "Easin" being a slo-mo bloc rocker from back in the day.

Welcome to EP-139 of the NDYD Radio Show that aired on the d3ep radio network on July 31, 2017. This set was recorded live on July 3rd in Venice, California for the annual Venice Gets DEEP for inDEEPendance (@deeplosangeles).

I had the honor and privilege again this year to host with the talented Heidi Lawden (@heidski) the DEEP lounge at this legendary yearly event. On the same bill we also had the heavy hitters Marques Wyatt (@marques-wyatt), Doc Martin (@sublevel-music), and Big Cee (@chris-big-cee-legaspi).

Based in the beautiful and vibrant city of Madrid, Spanish DJ and Producer Extraordinaire - Rayko has been a leading light in the clubbing scene around Europe and beyond, since he founded his magnificent Rare Wiri label in 2008 where he has released some of the coolest names out there during all these years like Daniele Baldelli, Man Parrish, Gazeebo, Ilija Rudman, Ichisan, Spirit Catcher, Mushrooms Project, or Eric Duncan among many others

His very unique sound and personality, and incredible work ethic, coupled with  unstoppable creative genius have given Rayko the momentum and consistency to stack up a number of great achievements in his genres, although being such a humble and down to earth guy, he will tell you that he just loves what he does and is perpetually inspired to keep on doing it! 

Deeply rooted in the golden era of the ‘70s and ‘80s, Rayko’s influences are masterfully interpreted and transformed into modern day dancefloor bombs with great vision. His love affair with the evolution of synthesizers and vintage drum machines has gone on to heavily fuel his sound today, in addition to sonic desires of 80s Rock evident in his catalogue, that displays such exquisite musical versatility. 

Rayko is very proud to have featured on over fifty great vinyl releases, spread across labels such as Eskimo, Is it Balearic?, Whisky Disco, Lumberjacks in Hell, and Editorial, including two studio albums on Nang Recordings, in addition to over two hundred digital releases. Many of these titles have been repeatedly featured in Top 10 sales charts, with some releases making it to the coveted number one position on platforms like Juno Download, Beatport, and Traxsource. His talents as a remixer have been in constant high demand, with invitations from coveted Artists like Psychemagik, Sirs, In Flagranti, Roberto Rodriguez, or Dj Rocca, to name a few, calling upon his exceptional skills.

In his capacity as DJ, Rayko is much loved wherever he goes.
