It's pretty impressive, but I would have split the difference because after the mod it's a little bit too bright. I did the mod and of course I just got used to it, but since then I sold all my synths. This is the one synth I wish i'd kept.

Well I would have had another song to post, but my hard drive disconnected from my laptop and one tap of the space bar unleashed mass casualties.

The original audio file was recorded to also demonstrate the improved volume level created by replacing two resistors. I have taken the original recording and reduced the amplification only on the "after" sounds. This may be a better comparison of improved tonal qualities, as the previous commenter has suggested. This is a very inexpensive mod to boost the performance of this classic synth module. My total cost for all parts was under $7 USD

This mod goes one step further to improve the sound quality of the FB-01. In addition to replacing four capacitors to improve treble headroom, two audio filter IC's have been replaced with higher quality op-amps. Also, the total volume gain has been increased from 3 to 5 by replacing two resistors.

For the Before/After audio comparison no external processing was performed and the volume levels were not altered. The volume increase is a result of the new 10k resistors.
