To many, the guys behind Tesla55 look like a cute gay couple, but they are actually the reincarnations of ABBA’s first-bought synthesizers. 

They first met in 1971 when Benny invited Björn over to his house to make a disco version of the all-time classic Wärst du doch in Düsseldorf geblieben by Dorthe. They shared some great moments together but they eventually ended up without any power or batteries on the streets of Stockholm.

Over 30 years later, Brent and Barry (those B’s are not a coincident) met again in human form at the Bourgondische Boschstraat market in Breda and they immediately felt they had a strong musical connection from a past life and soon started working together. As an ode to their past, they decided to name themselves after Benny’s favourite aftershave brand. 

Ever since then, Tesla55 has been making music that old people dance and teenage girls get their first period to. As a visitor of one of their gigs said: “I didn’t know what disco was until I heard them.”

PS: Brent and Barry are not a gay couple. Not that they have anything against the LGBT community: Barry knows someone who once went to a gay wedding and Brent has a picture of Caitlyn Jenner on his nightstand.
