This is a piece for an upcoming AU project of mine. It's called Inverted Fate, and it'll explore what might happen if the main six monsters swapped roles/jobs, but NOT personalities.

Thus, Undyne is a mad scientist who retains her hotbloodedness, strong determination, heroic persona, and over the top attitude. She's also the final boss of Hotland in the AU, fought inside of a mech suit. 

I plans to create more music for this AU soon, so stay tuned! Art/AU info will be posted to my tumblr (megaderping) soon.  For now, here's a little snippet I wrote when envisioning the leadup to this fight.

The ratings soar so high, they've broken the charts. Thousands of monsters glue their eyes to their TV screens, awestricken by the dazzling display before them. Stage lights shine down upon Mettaton NEO, gun arm raised, locked on the human below. He smiles-- no, beams. The calls come piling in. One monster after another showers Mettaton with praise, but he's the Underground's beloved action hero. This is expected, isn't it? He said he'd put on a grand show, and the human's courage in the face of danger, their bold poses, the way they sidestepped bombs, lasers, and more...

Perhaps it's enough to wow Undyne and put an end to her murderous game.

Nonetheless, they must go out with a bang! This is to be his biggest, boldest, and most exhilarating show yet. So he aims his arm cannon at the human, then winks. Bombs soar through the air-- and around the human. They strike the walls, flooding the room with billows of smoke. Amidst the smog, he hovers close, whispers to the human.

"That's your cue to leave, darling."

The human nods, toddles toward the door, but stops for a moment, looking back.

"Oh, don't worry about Undyne! Even the brightest stars have their critics, and I'm well accustomed to her temper tantrums."

So the human flees. They bolt into the hall. However, at that precise moment, the floor lurches. The lights flicker. Sirens wail. Still, the human persists, leaning into the wall for support. Reaching for that elevator door--

But no elevator awaits them. Just a dark, round room with a towering ceiling. An arena of iron and steel. There's a dull buzz in the air. As they look around, heavy thuds and clanks pound their eardrums. A mountain of metal lumbers close, a mechanized suit armed with spikes, flamethrowers, and dense armored plating. From behind a tinted window, Undyne's grinning face greets the child. 

"Fuhuhu... You've got guts, you little brat. I thought you would've keeled over halfway through Hotland, but now you're inches away from the capital."  I bet you're all fired up to meet the Queen, KILL her, and leave the Underground to suffer MORE despair!" The mechs foot stomps the floor. "Well, too bad! I don't care what Papyrus says. You're the enemy of our hopes and dreams!" 

The machines whir even louder than before, and her grin recedes. "It was wrong for me to send Mettaton after you. He's ALWAYS loved you humans... of course he'd hold back, but I'm gonna end this right here, right now, and no amount of 'friendship's' gonna change that!"

Inverted Fate - Scientific Justice (OUTDATED)

NOTICE: The upload of V2 got flagged by SC's automatic system, so I'm using the original Wavering Spirit upload with a new MP3 temporarily. This is a slightly newer render, too. If the old track gets restored, I'll probably put V1 back up for those who want nostalgia, but for now, I'd rather have a more recent version to represent it in the OST.

This whole thing happened because I had uploaded a slightly tweaked MP3, didn't like it, uploaded the V2 MP3 back for a temporary fix, but INSTANTLY got auto-detected, likely because I had flagged someone in the past for taking the song.

tl;dr: Automated copyright systems suck. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Retitled this track because Alphys now wields a Crossbow. New thumbnail will probably rectify this as well.

In my upcoming roleswap AU, Alphys is captain of the Royal Guard, but where Undyne is courageous, strong-willed, and brash, Alphys is quite the opposite. She's still introverted, still questions herself, and while she'd love to befriend Frisk, she's fully aware of the dangers humans pose.

I used Spear of Justice and Alphys' theme as a basis, but with a slightly slower tempo. Additional leitmotifs include Heartache, Megalovania, and Spear of Justice. This is because Alphys herself harbors doubts, and the leitmotifs are symbolic of the characters she holds the closest connections to. Toriel, who is the queen she serves, Undyne, who remains her crush and close friend... and also is actively planning to kill Frisk if they make it past her, and Sans, who is a fellow royal guard (albeit a lazy one), whom she feels is the stronger of them.

I may refine this piece at a later date, but I thoroughly enjoyed making it, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

Took a bit of a hiatus for personal reasons, but I wanted to make something nice to celebrate 100 followers. This track was a challenge to put together, and I may rework it later. Still, it was a great deal of fun.

In Inverted Fate, Toriel does assume the boss position Asgore fills in canon, but her motives are different.

This song uses a LOT of leitmotifs. There's bits of Heartache + Fallen Down + Memory + Once Upon a Time + ASGORE + Bergentruckung + Your Best Friend + Alphys + Megalovania... The prominent use of Asriel's leitmotif is due to the fact that Toriel still mourns the loss of her child.

Flowey's theme is present because of Flowey's role in the AU as Frisk's "friend" and traveling companion and also due to his actions prior to the fight. Once Upon a Time can represent Chara or Frisk, though I intended the former in this case. As for Alphys + Megalovania... Alphys is guard captain, and the Megalovania bit can be seen as representing Sans as fellow guard or Chara if you prefer.

tl;dr: A lot of these leitmotifs reflect plot and character roles in Inverted Fate that have yet to be revealed in the story proper.

Part 1 of Asgore's battle theme in Inverted Fate. Obviously based on Heartache, but I took some liberties when transferring some of the leitmotifs to fit the piece. The reason I said it's only Part 1 has to do with the way his fight's going to play out in the story, but I'll say no more than that.

Really happy with the way this one turned out, even if I cheated a bit by sampling the original intro. Also, I know that Your Best Friend and Megalo Strike Back don't quite fit into the Storyshift canon, but the original never plays in-game anyway, right?
