I knew it could work perfectly in the Drum & Bass realm but instead of making a sad liquid version, I wanted to keep it true to my style: high-energy, dancefloor-focused DnB with a disco twist.

This remix features high-tension build-ups, disco-influenced grooves, and 4x4 Drum & Bass drops that hit hard on the dancefloor. I also sprinkled in some classic breakbeats and deep reese basslines to keep the underground energy alive.

It’s an honest tribute to the original while giving it a fresh, club-ready edge for DJs and ravers. If you’re into dancefloor DnB, disco Drum and Bass, festival anthems, or drum and bass remixes that make the crowd move, this one’s for you.

This Friday, Influence Records launch their biggest release thus far, bringing through four of Drum & Bass’ leading, most-impactful artists, all of whom have had long-lasting, massively inspiring trajectories through the dizzying heights of our much-loved scene.

‘The Fire’ EP sees Influence lock messers Commix, Bungle, Zero T and Sevin, all seminal figures in their own right, for four stunning remixes from their extensive, time-tested back catalogue. Across the four track collection, the infinitely consistent Brazilian badman Bungle step ups to procure a slick remix of Easy & Geeks’s ‘Natural’, effortlessly diverse Irish soul purveyor Zero T delivers a pulsating rework of one of Influence’s most popular cuts from this year: Cutworx’s ‘Words’, and talented Knighton-based don Sevin supplies a harmonically cascading take on Easy’s ‘Tunnel Vision’, whilst the legendary, indomitable Commix firmly flexes his esteemed production aesthetic on Data’s 2009 classic, ‘The Causeway’. Overall, it’s yet another top package from Influence, and all the artists involved.

Self-proclaimed 174-year-old Mark Dinimal rounds off 2020 on one of our favourite labels: Swiss-based imprint Drum Army. Described by RAM Records as 'one of the most exciting acts to break ranks from the wave of new producers which has hit contemporary drum & bass', Dinimal has proved time and time again that he's an incredibly talented, technically-gifted producer who particularly likes sitting pretty in that deep, minimal bracket on releases for ProgRAM, Vandal, Hyperactivity, SINE and more. Aside from that sound, he's also shown a wilfully experimental edge, evidenced in full on this latest EP. Perhaps the most out-there of the lot is 'The Only Techno I Ever Made', a sumptuous 145bpm cut that sees him drift outside of his comfort zone and summon a contemporary breakbeat number of the highest calibre, packed full of that aggressive Dinimal punch and thwack we've come to expect from the much in-demand Fabriclive resident. A very merry Christmas indeed.
