Composed, performed and produced by Christopher Arndt. Made with Ardour 8.1 on Manjaro Linux using 21 instances of the Helm synth plugin and various other FLOSS plugins.

All sounds from Helm. The saxophone sound was played using an Akai EWI USB wind controller and the rhythm guitar with an electric guitar equipped with a Fishman TriplePlay MIDI pickup.

Take the Helm and Engage Fusion Drive

At Sonoj (https://sonoj.org) in October 2023 we had a One Hour Sample Challenge: make a "Track" with the provided samples in one hour. The samples were field recordings of some cowbells and singing monks from Romania:

After the event I sat down and fleshed out the track I had created during the challenge some more. I worked on it again for a couple hours on a few days later but then laid it aside to work on other songs. At this point I don't think I'll find the time to finish this, so here it is in it's current state, with a lame fadeout and some mix distortion and other warts and all...

The challenge for October 2024 was that all sounds must come from the Vaporizer2 synthesizer.

I mainly used Vaporizer 2 factory presets and tweaked most of them. I created the snare and the hi-hat sounds from scratch. I didn't do any wavetable editing or importing.
