Melissa was born and raised in North Philadelphia, where she began
 sing at an early age, within the church. It wasn't long before her musical gifts became apparent to all her family and friends. Melissa jay is now exclusively produced by Grammy Award winning producer Vidal Davis, who is also a Philly native, who have tackled all kinds of barriers through providing a one of a kind type of sound that touches the soul of people. Melissa has a soulful and raw unique sound , and with channeling all her pain and overall life experiences her music is one of one.
