Isaac Lehmann — aka IL — has been a trusted force in Perth’s underground electronic music scene for over 25 years. Known for deep, immersive journeys rather than linear mix sets, his performances are crafted to be experienced from start to finish — living, breathing soundscapes that unfold like ritual.

IL’s passion for electronic music was sparked in 1994, when he was introduced to the rave world by expat Europeans. By 1997, he had taken to turntables himself — blending analog discipline with an ever-evolving ear. His sound draws influence from pioneers like Oliver Lieb, DJ Misjah, Carl Cox, Commander Tom, Richie Hawtin, and Sasha — but his curation is all his own: intuitive, transformative, and deeply felt.

Guided by decades of dancefloor devotion and an encyclopedic knowledge of genre and groove, IL has become a fixture at bush parties, boutique festivals, and warehouse rituals across Western Australia. He’s played for some of the scene’s most respected crews, including Hooked Entertainment, Chainsaw Cobra, Damage Control, Prolapsed Third Eye Productions, Twisted Jah, Moonbase, Mad Hatterz Productions, Spaceboiz, HomeTree Collective, Begged Egg, DS Events Australia, Shoreline Productions, ACA Soundsystem, Deliriom, and Public Tranceport

His 2022 debut at Blossom Festival marked a new chapter, with a return in 2023 on the main stage of what has become WA’s premiere boutique gathering. He’s also featured on Melbourne’s Kiss FM, Perth’s iconic RTRFM Looney Choons, and a range of respected podcasts in Australia and abroad.

For IL, DJing isn’t performance — it’s transmission. Each set is a carefully sculpted, emotionally resonant arc that aims not to impress but to transform. With 2025 and beyond calling, IL continues to prove that time behind the decks only sharpens the blade.

Mr. What? is a question that offers some very interesting answers. 

Liran Ackerman, the man behind this fresh progressive psy project is already known for his success as part of the duo 'MUTe/MUTation'. Following the years of experience he collected with MUTe, Liran felt it was time to set off on a journey of his own. This journey was always about more than just music production, but had a strong calling for creating a palpable fusion between forward thinking beats and universal ideas and emotions that surround us all. This spiralling journey through music, soundscapes and omnipresent concepts has taken Mr. What?'s sound to a refreshing crossover between deep progressive and clubby techno, with just the right amount of psy influence. This can be heard and felt in his tunes, which grab hold of you and offer a refreshing essence of unpredictability in exactly where the groove may take you. Needless to say, his journey is one that we can easily identify with, and instantly feel compelled to join in on regardless of where it's heading. After all, the journey isn't about the destination, but about the road you take as you move along.

Mr. What?'s latest album '27' is pure example of this unbound road, where each track reveals a unique and fascinating view of life, and the endless possibilities of experience. The album features beautiful vocals by Netaly Reshef in 'Substance Fog' and 'Open Your Eyes', and bear a reminder of the angelic guidance that lives in us all. The album also offers some massive collaborations with U-Recken, Roger Rabbit, Krunch and a huge remix to Ritmo's Dream & Reality .

With a heightened passion for music, I came to the realization many years ago that electronic music represents a profound shift in the sonic landscape. 
While I fully understand that people want to listen to acoustic instruments and famous singers, I have a feeling this is not about music but about fame and glory... Lets be honest here, this is supposed to be about music! There is a new game in town, musical electronical landscapes!

The electronic revolution has arrived, resounding with greater potency and definition. It beckons without the constraints of explicit lyrics or overt speech, enabling a more immersive and personal connection with the melodies. This auditory voyage becomes a matter of personal choice—whether it accompanies your ascent or descent—bestowed by the power now firmly within our grasp.

Having fully embraced this paradigm shift, I have wholeheartedly bid farewell to antiquated norms, ushering in the innovative. The archaic no longer resonates with me; nostalgia holds no sway. While my admiration for esteemed artists like Elton John and Pink Floyd remains steadfast, the ethos of our time propels us forward. In this context, they, too, embody a Motorola StarTac in a world now defined by more advanced sensibilities.

To those who persist in their adherence to the sonic realms of a Motorola StarTac 70, let me implore you: it's time to awaken. This is 2023, a new dawn, an era that beckons you to shed the shackles of the past century. Liberation awaits, offering the freedom to align with your inclinations, to perceive as you will, under the benevolent embrace of electronic waves.
