Session #39 (Goodie Bag 2: Edits, Remixes & Blends)

THROWIT

The writing process for this sonata began while I was in Tokyo last summer. I wanted to musically describe the joy I felt going to Japan. This piece is inspired by and dedicated to my favorite composer & violinist, Masashi Hamauzu & Hijiri Kuwano whom I had the honor to meet in Yokohama. Although its form is Sonata-Allegro, I extended it's regulations in order to fit external musical ideas from works by Hamauzu. It was performed at my Senior Composition Recital at the Oakwood University Peters Hall Auditorium.

Sonata For Violin & Piano, 1st Mvt. "Departure"

"Tell Me" is a soulful R&B ballad that captures the quiet thrill of falling deeper in love after a long time  together.
The verses unfold with intimate warmth, tracing the subtle shift from comfort to electric longing.
A gentle groove builds under soft organs and light drums, carrying the singer’s buttery vocals into a hypnotic chorus. Every “Tell me, tell me, tell me” pleads for confirmation—do you feel this too?
The pre-chorus swells with piano and layered harmonies, mirroring the rush of constant thoughts.
Verse two paints physical closeness—glowing near you, floating in your arms, touching the sky.
Instrumental breaks let the feeling breathe before the final bridge fades into humming ad-libs and soft keys. This is love laid bare, honest and danceable, wrapped in a smoky jazz-club glow.
