En este nuevo trabajo Lasai nos descubre nuevos registros vocales y habilidades, con mucha más variedad melódica de la que nos tenía acostumbrados, su frescura habitual en las rimas y una temática que hace honor al título del trabajo, en el que vemos a un artista mucho más concienciado con los problemas sociales actuales, y con un mensaje de denuncia y revolución ante la opresión que ejercen los gobiernos y grandes empresas sobre la población y países más desfavorecidos.

Sin duda Lasai es uno de los artistas que abanderarán en nuestro país la nueva generación "Revival” que se vive en todo el mundo, en la que se mantiene la esencia, positivismo y alma del Reggae más clásico, actualizado a nuestra época digital.

En Rebel encontramos cortes como “Police”, “No Man Curse” o “Muzzik is a must” que van a estallar los graves de los sound systems en todos los Dub Station.

Otros como “War”, “Full Up a Vibes”, o “Material Woman” con Hermano L harán las delicias de los amantes de sonidos clásicos, que dan paso al nuevo himno cannabico “Strictly Ganja” o la temática social en las colaboraciones “Jah Children” con el jamaicano Burning Spectacular o “Rebel” con Mandinka desde Gambia.

Hay que destacar la parte instrumental de todo el álbum, con joyas de Makka Dubba, Positive Vybz, Upskillz Records, La Plana Tropical, RiceLand Records, Max Rub A Dub, WaGwaan Studio y LaMarca.

A Kursiva & Karlixx production joined by the vocals of Ken Boothe in a reggae key. Cover of the famous track Ain’t no Sunshine by Bill Withers in 1971. This is our first hybrid between reggae and jungle where 160 bpm's rules the riddim.

In this track, Karlixx and Kursiva are creating a perfect mix between a riddim with a warm digital sound and a lighthearted and elegant melody that we can listen at the intro. The track drops with a vibrant jungle 160 break and a smashing bassline that makes up the essence of the riddim which alongside with the sweet Boothe voice makes the track a perfect combination of styles even for listen at home or for dance it at the dancefloor.

ABOUT THE SONG:
Books get converted into audio books quite often these days but what about an interpretation in music? This is precisely what the universe conspired for Gladstone Taylor's KingSun: The Testaments of Sunlight and Water over the course of its first year. When the man called Giark (Digital B Records producer-turn-artist) acquired his own copy of the book, the result was only one thing: a big tune!

The son of pioneer dancehall producer Bobby Digital, Giark has himself produced tracks for the likes of Kabaka Pyramid ('Phenomenon'), Daniel 'Bambaata' Marley ('Maintain') and Chronixx ('Iyah Walk'), helping to stoke the Reggae Revival fire of a generation on the rise.

Giark has known Gladstone personally for some time and fondly refers to him as a "country man come a town" who encountered the capital city and saw "how it run." The singer admits that he was eager to read his bredrin's perspective and was also willing to use his more popular medium of music to help boost attention for a literary artist who he respects to the max.

"I had the book for like four, five days and me never read it," Giark said. "The moment me start read the book, me just start laugh. And out of laughing, music start make."

TRAXSOURCE LIVE! A&R Sessions #063 - Nu-Disco with Dan Klokow and Re-Tide

It's been almost a year since Kid Kenobi's last release - his 2011 'Bass Music' EP. That's not to say he's been laying low, far from it. The Kid has been busy running our label as well as writing club hits as one half of Too Fresh with his brother Hugga Thugg. But change is in the air, and with new label management looming the Kid has decided to shift focus back on to his own music. And his latest EP, 'Music For Klub Kids', looks set to be its spearhead.  
So what is 'Musik For Klub Kids'? 
In many ways it's Kid Kenobi's dedication to his own DJing and the club kids that support it week in week out. Stylistically it's also a dedication to our label Klub Kids, with many of the different genres the label represents - electro, dubstep, and moombahton - all being showcased on the EP. But, as we tend to find with the Kid, it's also a dedication to all the music he has ever loved with rave, hip hop, and dub once again driving his 'contemporary' sound. Plus he's always needed to write more than one genre of music! 
In many ways the EP is also about Kid Kenobi simplifying what he's 'about'. It's less about 'what can I come up with in the studio' he says, and more about 'what music do I actually like DJing'. Sounds simple, but the result is without doubt his most solid work to date and, perhaps, the most unified and congruent body of work he's ever produced (despite it's inherent diversity).  
'Your Love' - written with Melbourne based musician Justin Hunter and featuring the vocal talents of Jamie Lee Wilson - is a fat slice of main room rave topped with a heavy dose of laser and bass. This has been doing some major damage in Kid's sets of late and will be the first single to come off the EP. Next up the Kid joins the trap revolution with 'MFB', a bottom heavy 808 workout coupled with a dope injection of ghetto rave and booty bass. 
Third up is 'Freak Funk', featuring the party hype of New York based rapper Big Nab. This is straight up mid tempo block party badassness, fusing current ghetto-glitch-moombah vibes with an inkling of that lost- but-not-forgotten genre of music known as big beat. 
But it's not all about block rocking. The Kid has always had a love for deeper, more soulful beats. It's a passion that perhaps finds its best expression in his dub excursions. Perhaps our favourite track off the EP, the Kid is proud to present his exclusive reworking of 'Holding You Close' by Dubblestandart and Marcia Griffith (a member of the 'I Threes', a background group which supported Bob Marley & The Wailers). Amazing. What else can we say? Welcome to music for Klub Kids.
