Josh Stewart, the artist known as J.kul was born on December 23rd 1990 in Greater Southeast hospital located in Washington DC and was raised in Temple Hills Maryland (Prince Georges County). The letter “J.” standing for his first name and kul (cool) abbreviated for “keen under limitations”, produces a double meaning as far as personality or traits. Born with Pneumonia and fighting through it Josh defeated life’s challenges from day one, After recovering somewhat from his Pneumonia his parents had to rushback home Christmas eve to unite with the rest of the family for Christmas. The youngest of nine brothers and sisters, the older he got the more he began to pick up on many different talents and interest, becoming a very open minded individual about any and every topic.

 At a very young age family, friends, and Josh himself envisioned he would grow up to be a veterinarian or work within some type of career that would involve animals due to his love and understanding for them. By the age of five Josh, was learning how to draw (mainly animals) and improving each and every day, from here creativity begin to form both hands on and mentally. As his imagination grew his creativity became a very admirable capability as he went on to design a number of things such as birdhouses, gadgets, small works of art, mini cities, and more (creating projects for himself). Josh had a natural knack for turning nothing into something using what was often considered trash or useless and turning it into something interesting and positive in which would play a great role in his potential career currently (Architecture). By sixth grade Josh was very diverse with a lot of talents in which would normally be broken down separately when talking about an individual. He was athletic, playing flag football for his elementary school, he was very talented in drawing, and his pride and joy was his understanding of nature. With all of these things and more growing right along with him, he managed to adopt a few extra hobbies to top off his life entering Jr. High school in the year of 2003.

 What started out as fun and games in elementary school within his brother’s bedroom every single night, Josh picked up on the craft of free styling, challenging his brothers and cousins anytime they did or did not ask for it. By the end of Jr. High, entering High School and still interested in all the things he had gain interest of in the past, Josh had experienced a number of rap battles in cafeterias, hallways, and classrooms of school. Moreover He adopted the skill of writing music and poetry.

 By the end of his freshman year he began to stray away from rap battles and stuck with writing music and poetry. A lot of classmates, students, and people in which knew him would describe him as a humble/positive person who defines the meaning of the triple C’s (Calm, Cool, Collective). People would always make jokes and question him for being so cool, so he decided to call himself J. for short and in addition add what stood out to the people around him the most. It wasn’t long until the word “kul” was added having the same meaning as the word “cool”, representing his overall demeanor. And he was always complimented for being a great lyricist and bringing a flow to the table in which would be hard to compare. Some would say he had a slight southern flow mixed with a lot of deep thought.
