"Cyph" is the first single off of my EP Melancholia. The lyrics describe a toxic, codependent relationship. The narrator of this track is in the headspace that they are broken and not worthy of love. They are drawn to the antagonist who provides them some form of "love." This is not real love because the antagonist feeds into the belief that the narrator is broken and only they will ever be able to love someone so messed up. 
The genre of this track is anti pop, with hip hop influences. The production was influenced by darker Lana Del Rey and Lil Peep tracks. I wanted to create a moody, ethereal, cinematic soundscape. This track relies heavily on pads, bass, piano, electric guitar, and vocal stacks. I wanted to make certain parts of this track feel underwater, heavily contrasting the clarity of verses/hook. The electric guitar was recorded into Ableton, while the rest of the instrumentation was digital. Many of the melodic parts of this track use Omnisphere presets, which provided the emotional feel.
