WhoMadeWho’s Silence & Secrets is the gift that just keeps on giving. Following the critically acclaimed release of the original record back in November, and a subsequent brace of star-studded remixes from Frank Wiedemann and Adriatique in January, the Danish three-man outfit now looks to further expand on the success of the third single from their forthcoming album, as they enlist Grammy Award-winning South African artist Black Coffee to provide another blockbuster rendition.

Having just accepted the 2022 Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the award ceremony in Los Angeles last weekend, Black Coffee’s latest production sees Durban-born Nkosinathi Maphumulo breathe new life and a pulsating energy into WhoMadeWho’s wistful original single, as he imparts superlative rhythmic flair to the band’s restrained melodic euphoria.

Reworking WhoMadeWho’s emotive lyrics and uplifting chord progressions into his own percussive sound palette, Coffee’s signature house groove provides the perfect backdrop to Tomas Høffding’s drawn out vocal refrains, as he conjures an impressive tapestry of organic drum patterns and stripped back tones, to deliver the latest spellbinding remix of the flourishing hit record.

Over the last two decades, DJ and producer Black Coffee has fully established his presence as one of the most prominent names in electronic music. Shattering boundaries across the board, his recent productions include a record with international superstar Drake, an official remix for Alicia Keys and the release of his sixth studio album Subconsciously – a twelve-track body of work featuring collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Diplo, RyX, Usher and David Guetta – which recently received the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album by the Recording Academy.

On the live front, Black Coffee has also become one of the top touring performers in the world, with residencies in global dance music hot spots such as Ibiza, Mykonos and Las Vegas and an impressive tour schedule of over 150 shows each year.

Michiel Stehouwer was born in Leiden, The Netherlands in 1972. He moved to Amsterdam when he was twenty-three years old to lift his passion for electronic music to a higher level. In 1992 he founded an association with 11 friends, named Q-events that organized events and parties. Big names in the international DJ world were booked by this organization. Marshall Jefferson/ Loco Dice / Jamie Anderson/Nick Harris/Isis/Angelo/ Dimitri and many others.

Meanwhile, Michiel started studying at the school of audio engineering. He specialized in audio engineering as well as Electronic producing and graduated in 2005. 

His recent music is various genres of techhouse, progressive house, deep tech,deephouse, techno and house.  He brings these together through a fusion between heavy bases and flowing melodies. Starting from 1996 up until now he grew from a part-time home producer into a professional and fulltime musician. 
Growing up he dreamt of recording and releasing his music. It expresses his creative mind. “Music is art, and I hope that I can inspire others with my tracks”.

Michiel admires Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, DJ Dimitri,  Guy J and most of his label, Patriece Baumel, Sebastein leger, Solomun, , Tale of us and Laurent Garnier among many others. He experiences their style as a whole different, unique one that distinguishes itself in the genre. This style formed a great source of inspiration and he dreams of developing a style of his own that he will be known for.

He released music on various labels, mainly progressive house, techno & melodic house music with a certain mind flow and dance feel.

He has released on labels as Metrohm, Triangle records, Libertas, First Impression, Lups records, Just Movement, Lodjiya, Lamp, Lincor, Dog and Man, Kommunikation Records, Bonsai Boys, Connected Records Holland, Blanc Stone Digital,  and Tripout music.
