A key part of New York’s club music underground, WTCHCRFT will release his next EP on Clasico, Local Action’s new sibling label curated and operated by ELEANOR.

Titled Sleepless in Brooklyn, the four-track EP sees WTCHCRFT continue to hone a distinctive take on techno — typically driven by acid basslines, minimal 808s and vocal hooks that reflect his hip-hop background — that’s seen him supported by the genre’s brightest sparks: Ellen Allien, Marie Davidson, TSHA, VTSS, Francois X, SPF DJ and Paula Temple.

A live fixture in the US and Europe, both solo and as one half of Madness Of (with regular b2b-partner KYRUH), WTCHCRFT has previously released on Balkan Vinyl, Sorry Records, Noise Manifesto and more.

Started during the pandemic and finished at the start of this year, Sleepless in Brooklyn is “dedicated to my time in Sunset Park Brooklyn, staying awake every day during the pandemic making music until 7AM."

Listen back to the panel discussion and the book presentation of the last Anti-imperial Resistance Grid solidarity-event on 10.06.2023, organised by Katya Vavrynchuk and Anouk Samira Schnidrig in Zentralwaescherei, Zurich. 

The recording is featuring the presentation and a participatory reading of a collectively-written book “Queer Ukraine: An anthology of LGBTQI+ voices during wartime”, edited and presented by a queer Ukrainian activist, artist, researcher, and co-founder of https://www.instagram.com/dvijka_/ collective Vlad(a). The second part of the recording comprises a political talk and q&a on the war in Ukraine. Together with the speakers Taras Gembik (Ukrainian cultural worker, performer, co-founder https://www.instagram.com/blyzkist/ , https://www.instagram.com/sdkslonecznik/ ) and Filip Kijowski (queer interdisciplinary artist and performer from Poland, founder of https://www.instagram.com/biblioteka_azyl/ ), unsettling yet crucial questions were discussed, in order to shed the light on the complex historical imperial and colonial context between Russia and Ukraine, as well as to give a critical perspective to the privileged perceptions in the West.

The result ended in the cathartic process of a bunch of feelings and connections with people that Mariana met the past year that were key in the process behind the context of music and at a personal level of growing. Taking inspiration within the ambient yet exploring techno and leftfield.


The "Apofenia" track is being displayed in a community hub that showcases 11 artists from Mexico's capital. The hub was curated by Turning Torso, an audiovisual artist, producer, and DJ who is deeply involved in CDMX's underground electronic music scenes. Explore the hub to listen to eleven new tracks and learn more about the CDMX scene and its artists. The cover art is made by David Sánchez aka Turning Torso.
