Hello humans! Story time! 

I am pleased to present you with a mixtape/ep/wip dump! While these tunes are technically incomplete in my eyes, I felt the need to share at least something that resembles a body of work in 2025.

I have to admit that most of the time during my brief stint on planet Earth, I’ve been exceedingly fortunate. Especially lately in life, it is not uncommon for me to be celebrating a W of my own or of one of my close friends or family members. But life isn’t only celebrating W’s.

Earlier this year, there was a small chunk of time where my little family and I took a bunch of (really inconsequential and easy to deal with) L’s. Some items were stolen from our yard and from my truck, some intense family issues arose, and lastly, the reason I’ve blathering on - my solid state drive for my main production machine in my studio failed!

I went to college for digital arts and have myself  been a digital art instructor, and I of all people should know the importance of several backups. If it doesn’t exist in three places, it doesn’t exist at all, as the saying goes. I think you can guess what I’m going to say next. I had attempted to back up my machine a week beforehand, but it failed, and I hadn't been vigilant about backups for quite some time prior to that. I lost all of the project files for a lot of the music I had been working on and playing out for a good chunk of time! 

I have been in the habit of releasing a body of work every year, and as the year marches steadily towards closure, I looked at the pile of WIPs I was sitting on and started to scratch my head. Some frequent advice I’ve given to friends and colleagues that are debating whether it’s time to put out music, or whether the music is “good enough” has consistently been “better out than in.” In fact, the words I usually use are “Those tunes aren’t doing anyone any good if they’re sitting on your hard drive.” 

So in an attempt to stay consistent, and to practice what I preach, I decided to take a handful of the tunes I’ve been playing in my sets recently, bundle them up, and give them to you, beautiful human!

This is my gift to my listeners, because I know many of you like my downtempo the most :) I hope this one resonates with you, as it has for me. The message is to embrace your 'innerchild' and never let it go; let this time of year remind you of the imagination, excitement, joy, and love we all share as humans in this life over the years.

Not the expensive presents, greed, stress, or the capitalistic bs, but whatever made you truly happy as a child. I used to loveee caroling for elderly and making them happy, and believing in Santa in any creative way I could think up. I still love making gifts for people I want to show my appreciation to, and hanging up ornaments and decorations that carry memories. Watching the polar express like its a religious ceremony, the house smelling like pine and cookies and all the memories of our friends coming over on christmas eve. The town santa clause coming to our house to give us a bag of toys, bugging our older cousins to play with us at the family party, and now adays, the video chats with my family and getting passed around the dinner table.

I used to complain about a lot of these things, but as I've gotten older, I've realized how much of a gift it is to have had these experiences, and to still have the memories and feelings that only arise this time of year, whether they be good or bad. The message is the same, childhood is sacred and the imagination, innocence, and pure joy we held then should be cherished forever.

Thank you for sticking around for the journey of Xenolinguist if you have, and I hope this song can help you connect to your own 'innerchild' and help you appreciate them, just as I appreciate all that you've all done for me by supporting me over the years and allowing me to live my dreams.
