Mtwn (in our vocabulary pronounced Mutwun, but known to others by the name Motown) are a pair of brothers that reside way out near the eastern border of Belgium. They've been releasing amazing quality music on several high profile D&B labels lately and we are very proud to announce and show off their best work yet; in the form of a two-track digital single.
Kicking things off with the spine- tingling title track 'Microcosm'; a deep amalgamation of scalpel-tight drums, electrifying scream samples and suspenseful breakdowns, built only for the sharpest DJ sets. Having caught the attention of some of the most respected artists in the industry, 'Microcosm' is likely to be flourishing amongst sets for the rest of the year.
Over on the other side, 'Tech9' is one of Mtwn's slightly spicier flavours. Heart stopping intervals in between climaxing drums and a murky sampled drop make this tune really stand out giraffe neck above most of their releases so far this year.

Counting almost three years in the game now, Demand Records have set themselves a mammoth task. To continually release music that cuts through the mounting levels of hype that surround the drum and bass scene of 2013 while retaining an edge of experimental innovativeness is no easy feat.

Drum & Bass on Demand 2 is a collection of darkly intelligent beats from some of the label's biggest stars, as well as some incredible new talents.

The third instalment in the <Absys Records' 12” series sees a return to prominence for the Dublin-based label with a triumvirate of styles from across the spectrum of drum & bass. First up, Mortem returns to Absys with the stomping, upfront roller "Heat Of The Night" , its growling bassline, trance-esque chord stabs and haunting vocals so characteristic of the Polish producer’s unique style. Switching things up, Ibunshi & Kodama offer up a slice of classic old skool vibes with the atmospheric and terrifying jungle riddim, "Fragments". Sounding like a mix between Origin Unknown and The Exorcist, this track is one for the late-night-early-morning crew: pure dancefloor fire. Following his recent debut on Absys' Missing Fragments LP, relative newcomer Mauoq wraps up this incendiary EP with the stepper’s delight that is  "Abracadabra". 'With each release, it’s important that a label leaves a lasting imprint on the listener. That’s exactly what Protect Audio has achieved with their seventh release, from collaborative duo Dexta & Mauoq. These are two drum and bass artists who epitomise what this label is about, currently adding to an ever expanding discography; conjuring basslines which illustrate the versatility of drum and bass. They’ve created a counterintuitive set of records, an EP for those who still appreciate their music streamlined.

On first listen, you’ll be drawn in by ‘Torn’s’ assertive and forward moving rhythm. It’s grimy, with rasping vocals and systematic loops which make your stomach drop with each break. Those first few drum beats signpost its heaviness; yet it features a technical ability which prevents it from developing into an overbearing, distorted monstrosity. Something that is mastered by Protect Audio, and the artists it helps represent.

And more than one set of these artists have laid their dirty fingers on its production. Mtwn’s mix of ‘Torn’ is just as impressive as it was the first time round, although it has a weightier impact than its predecessor. You’re lead cautiously throughout those first few seconds, held by darkly ambient atmospherics and ghost-like percussion. The grimy overture is hijacked, and manipulated into something eerier. It doesn’t have the same aggressiveness as the original, although it’s still just as ominous. They’re both imposing tracks, despite being put across in different forms through the signature techniques of each artist.

Their latest EP was praised by Beatport, and has steadily climbed the charts amongst the usual suspects, finding themselves nestled between the genre’s heavyweights. That’s why one eye should be kept on this label, as it’s likely to gain the same appraisal. They’re still pushing the boundaries, unintimidated and armed with a host of talented artists, factors which can only further their success.'
